I've just sent some parts to the US via FedEx.Be prepared to fill a lot of paperwork out for customs i.e individual -weights,use,material,packaging,value.If the parts are worth more than £2000 you may have to convince customs it's not a commercial transaction.

If you're sending complete engine and running gear etc. might be better to get it shipped per seafreight, rather than spending a fortune on a UPS/FedEx shipment. Should be much cheaper and takes about 20 to 30 days from UK to US. Get the estimated weight and volume of the shipment and try to get a quote from local forwarders.
