i know this is a common prob, now thw wife just called to say car alarms gone off a few times and when driving it says its open so im presuming thats the culprit


what can i do to resolve this tomorrow? as i presume its water ingress

its a 2001 gti t if that makes any difference

 

I would of said the little micro switch in the boot catch is nackered or sticking.

 

You might have to take the boot panel off and could try and spray some loube on the catch.

 

the VAG alarms have a back up battery sealed in the alarm housing, when this goes flat causes strange alarm issues, £80 for new unit, or crack it open and £2 for a new battery, and some electrical tape around it.

might not be your issue, but a common one

 

i deffo think its boot lock related if the pooter keeps popping on saying its open that also must be whats triggering the alarm


cars been home 10 mins and its gone off twice


missis says it loccks and alarms itself, but i read in manual thats only if you unlock and dont open a door

so now i have to leave it unlocked
