Fiesta/Escort V6 conversions???
Anyone successfully made one of them? I know the old Escort conversions made by Gartrac using 2.8 cologne or 2.9 24V and rear wheel drive. I wanted to know something about 2.5 24V Duratec engines (Modeo) or 3.0 Duratec ST220 with FWD which are on the road... Seen some photos of builds yet, but never a completed car after all.

I've put a Vectra V6 in a ka, the vectra lump is much compacter than the mondeo lump, the mondeo engine would not have fitted the Ka so I'm not sure if it'll fit a fiesta bay
I'm not on my PC with photos of the build but I have couple of videos here clicky

dont think many peolple bother with it as they're not popular to tune and would handle like a bag of milk
i put a v6 in a corsa once and it was just to front end heavy, don't recommend it
better with a 2 litre xe

i think it's something to do with the fact that they don't work long way round for some reason
might be something to do with the inlet or something, but i've seen one in a sierra, from america, with them adjustable top mount things, some fella on here owns it, rainbird might know who as he's done some suspension stuff from him

That's absolutely my thought. Too heavy, less tuning potential, only a few tuning parts available and less power compared to a CVH turbo, a Zetec or a Duratec... But some people here think engine capacity is the only way to go... But when there's no conversion in UK (without strict regulations for public road use like here) they might see it has some reasons no one ever done this...

The yellow cab is the only one I know of...... suprised it's so uncommon considering how often it's done in Vaux-world.
My V6 Alfa 155 handles great and it's lump is huge! Quite a few of them end up in 145s too with good results.....

got chatting with the copper about it as i saw the v6 badge on the back, and he said when its empty it did shift but will all the stuff they have to carry in it slows it down a fair bit again, the copper was actually a decent one for a change

top boss did a 2.5V6 into a mk3 escort
the slam panel was about 4 inches slimmer than it left the factory as the engine sat so far forwards
putting it in the other way around and making it rwd and you might as well use a much better opeiotn in the shape of some of the japanese engines with V8's in them

All you need is a grinder, welder, time, lots of patients, fabrication skills, a load of spare cash, and a stupid bet with a friend that it won't fit and I'm sure you'll find a way lol

Having enjoyed helping with the sod of a job fitting an ST170 motor into mk6 Escort I'm just not sure why Ford would bother when they had the I4 motor that was tried and tested and available
