I was merrily working on me lathe in the garage today when neighbour asked me to look at his daughters Punto wipers.
Anyway the linkage for the offside wiper has worn the plastic so bad in the link between the motor and wiper arm bit that it keep falling off, spent 30 mins trying to bodge, not holding out much hope though and it didn't work more thna 2 minutes!!
It's a 04 reg with 30, 000 on it I was shocked is this common on these, as the other side seems little better, is this a known problem, help as scrappies are shut till new year, it might end up being new one of they are all this bad though.
Any thoughts/comments other than set fire to it, thanks.

very common
we do around 2 or 3 a week in work
just renew it possible but i've found the best repair is to tack weld a washer onto the metal bit that the plastic bush keeps falling off of, stops it getting past it
works a treat, done loads and loads like this and never had a problem or any come back again

I had a look on the bay, there are loads of linkages with much better socket bits on there for these, so will try this first, are the wirtes as easy to get it all out as it seems though if I do decide to weld ?

I used to work on fiat and alfa for about 6 years and i used to change a few too.I used to get alot of puntos coming in with the wipers juddering over the screen.I used to take the top of the motor off clean the grease out, bend the terminals up and they uesd to work properly again.

The linkage to the other side is the same size, so what i did was switch them round and put the most worn on first on the piggy back bit then a good link ontop so it holds in in place....well not really holds it in place but it stops if from falling off completly.
