Right so decided to spend some money on my telly, me and the missis used to go cinema every week, and our 6month old has put a stop to that so decided to make home watching more upto date.
my tv is the new samsung LE40A756 lcd 40" and got the samsung blueray BD-P1500

my issue is this, i have a Sherwood amp, and oldish one i think RD-6108R.
i have an optical cable running the sound from tv to amp, with tv volume up and amp on there is a very very slight delay from the amp (sounds like your at santa pod with all them speakers, echo!) tried optical in dvd player to amp and the same thing, very very slight delay. the sound isnt that far out that it doesnt match lips but annoys me that £1200 and it not perfect.
Anyone with any ideas, old amp?
sorry for the long post lol
cheers Ric

right had a look through manual for amp and the delay time only delays the speed of the front center speaker in relation to the rear surrounds, makeing it poss to adjust the sound getting to your ears realative to how close you are to front center speaker if that makes sense. not the delay time from dvd player to amp

Hello, the issue you have is called latency its a delay in the DAC (digital anologue converter) in your amplifier.
the TV output will always be faster than your DAC in your amp so i would suggest useing the analogue surround outputs on the tv instead of the optical. this will sort out the latency of the DAC.
if you want to still use the optical then the only option is to get a much better amp with a faster bit rate on the DAC..
good luck, let me know if you need any further help.

All LCD/Plasma TV's have a processing delay in the order of 30ms, slightly less if using a digital video source. This covers the time to digitise an analogue signal, and decode the video signal into pixel values and coordinates. Any audio kit with digital processing or i/o will also have a delay/latency, which will tend to be less, hence you having to delay the audio out of the sky box (which also suffers the same problem internally so has built-in delay to compensate).

like i said previous, isnt such a big issue as the lip sinc doesnt seem to be affected, just i like things to be perfect.
and yeah am on the lookout for a new good quality amp, but this one aint broke yet so no rush.
might do a vid an upload to youtube just if people really are that board and wanna see lol
