to put that into perspective ive just checked on rods website and listed on there works out 90 - 140 in 5.4 seconds massive hats off to you mate technically quicker than rods car from 90 - 140
I suspect he has a gear change, which probably costs him a second as it will take half a second and during that time it will declerate too of course.
So if you looked at the times from 80 for example, so we had a change too, he'd walk away from the astra.
But Rod is on a different level, would never expect to compete with him.

still an awesome achievement mate. best ive achieved 90 - 140 is about 9 seconds
even if rod did loose a second still only puts you 0.6 of a second behind him.

Speckys tigra is quicker 0-140 than rods I should imagine (specky does it in 11.5 cant remember rods times) lightweight is pretty useful at those speeds, but from that point onwards, its bye bye pensioner as he dissapears off into the distance.

*EDIT* I spoke to soon,140 is the first point rod creeps in front of the fastest fwd vauxhalls, lol

Thats going from 94.1mph to 160.5mph

So over 66mph gained in a single gear in 7.3 seconds starting from speeds already WELL above the national limit, thats awesome progress when you think how much wind resistance there is at those sort of speeds, and shows what a massive spread of torque he has to pull through 3000rpm of the rev range with such rapid and near linear progress.

To put it in persepective, thats the same sort of acceleration for the 66mph from 94mph to 160mph as a standard escort cosworth manages from a standing start to get from 0-66mph, so its putting in you your seat at 125mph like an escort cosworth does at 30mph!

Not bad for a car built and mapped by total ameteurs like Rob and me :thumb:

Mapping isnt quite finished yet either, still a bit more to come potentially, but its kind of got to the stage now where TBH it just has enough power for a FWD trackday toy without really needing to worry about chasing every last BHP anymore.

How much quicker is it than Neil Adam's old Astra mk2 turbo ?

I wonder how far he'd be behind what has rod done the quarter in? I know he's not a fan of quarter miles. But i think he should put some slicks on, it'd do some pretty good times!

How much have you gained on Robs car from say TOTB? This looks like another 11 second Vauxhall for next year.

Rod's done a 11.7 quarter IIRC, which is slower than specky's tigra, so from a stand still, he's relatively easy to keep with, its once the speed starts getting high that Rod is unbeatable.
Not sure what the astra will do yet, going to be either a very low 12 or an 11 though IMHO

But is it running for more than 5 miles without me having to stop and top up his radiator, put his windscreen wipers back on, re-secure his bonnet...........????

Sounds even more of an animal than it already was. Beat my M5 up to 120mph last time out, but M5 was catching up quick after that......Great Work.

Have to see how it does against the TVR Tuscan S.......... Two unreliable machines !!!!! LOL.

Is that time based on rods new engine this year or from his old run couple years back??

Even so fair play to the astra especially as its fwd. My friend joey is building a c20let mk1 astra gte. He keeps saying he'll kill my 3door when he's done. I don't care I passed my bike test last week so i'll just buy a half decent bike.

Based on rod's old engine.

New one should be much quicker, although I guess the first few gears wont really be effected much

Are you sure............... The M5 would sit at 175mph all day long. You had to stop three times in a 60 mile trip.

Which bit of the fact that he had a split radiator he needed to keep topping up, which he then replaced a couple of days later makes it so hard for you to believe that now it doesnt have a water leak anymore his car is actually very fast and now reliable too?

You boys will have to have another play on the way up to the basingstoke meet some time, I think you will be genuinely shocked Jim

Could be fun........... But I won't be shocked, coz I know how damned quick it was before it was sorted, so now I can only guess.

I'll stick plenty of tools in the boot regardless........Will be a toss up which car will need them first, a dodgy vauxhall, or a TVR.......LOL. Tuscan has had the suspension sorted/modified, and handles alot better than with the shonky bilstiens that were originally on there, now it has GAZ fully adjustables with properly rated springs, rose jointed anti roll bars, fuel lines changed to goodrich braided, and the engine loom replaced and fitted with decent connectors.

Really good to hear it's come together though. And it'll be a fun drive up as usual.

The other bit..............(Water leaking in as well as out) when his passenger door window fell out on the motorway at 90mph................LOL.

It really was an "EVENTFUL" drive.
