Bin thinking that for S2 stuff on ebay, seems the sellers just jack the price up to what they want, not what its worth!!

Nothing out of the orndinary really in my opinion. Rare parts that demend good money. If you need one, you have to pay the price for it.

Why would anyone want to pay £50 for a towing cover? When a second hand one will do just as well? Granted some parts you want new, but a lot of others it doesn't really matter!

Plus i'd be pretty sure you can still get some of those bits from Ford for a lot less....

i think you find ford have stoped a lot of parts within the last two years.

plus the price of tow eye cover 2end hand for an escos is about 30-50 pounds.

Exactly.

My first port of call for Ford parts is, funnily enough, Ford! I got sapph door mouldings, easily from my local dealership.

I think it comes down to the local part man as well, some just can't be arsed/ are idiots!

So its cosworth tax + idiot tax = Those prices

If his items weren't selling he'd adjust prices-obviously they are selling even at those prices though.

The problem is, even if some of those are still available from Ford, 90% of the time, the parts man on the phone will just say 'no longer available'. Now most of those people will take his word for it and if they see one come up, they will pay the price for it.

I also know that the front towing eye covers for the escos are like rocking hirse shit to find, and when/if they do come up second hand they usuallly go for silly money or you the seller wont split from the bumper.

Thats why i siliconed my towing eye on for good measure after reading a thread of how rare/expensive they are. Alot of moeny for a bit of plastic of course, but if i needed one, id pay it as i wouldnt have much choice.

Also Ford has such a following especially in concourse so if new original parts come up, people will have them.

I phoned 3 ford dealers for a spiler seal and all 3 said NLA. I got a new one off ebay for a tenner.

Bits that are not available from Ford no more go for stupid money, that's the bottom line unfortunately, I was looking and bidding on the inner fitting for the fuel pump bracket the other day, it cost £28 plus the vodka and tonic from Ford I put in a £100 bid and was still out bid it went for £102

I saw a seller asking £45 for a 4wd sapph cos expasnion tank as they are "rare", got mine last week for £32.66 from ford.
I have a few of the other bits brand new as well hoarded years ago, plus a totally uncracked 3 door dash.

Before I buy anything off of ebay I check with my pals at ford to make sure that they are not available no more, weather strips that go between the front and rear does on a saph were going for 30 odd quid on ebay, still available at 11 quid a side, front bumper mounting brackets went for 41 quid the other day on the bay, madness by whoever bought them, still available at 7 quid each, if something is not available and I want it I will spend the money, it has to be done if you want a particular part,

I hoard stuff too you could build half a saph with the bits I have

i was tryin to sell 2 s2 bonnets with no vents for 25 quid each usual condition both have grate paint

had people asking me all sorts of questions sayin will i take 20 etc etc what people dot realize is even pattern parts have gone right up in price

a new pattern bonnet was £120 and a set of lower arms was £50

so everything's getting much more expensive new so a knock on effect to 2nd hand

prices seem fair to me for genuine ford bits

He is a bit top-heavy, but seeing as the bits aren't exactly thick on the ground if you need something..........supply and demand unfortunately.

Ford UK has taken over now, so the stockpile could well have dried up
