Good prep, and good application. Its straighforward to do, but very easy to do badly. Spend a good amount of time on the prep, and I would imagine google will give you pointers on how to get the spray done well. Just remember if its your first go at it it wont be perfect...

make sure you wear an air fed mask, as 2k is poisonous and you will end up breathing through a machine if you dont!
plenty of heat is the key to good flow, give it 3-4 coats with a 10 min flash off.
make sure paint is correctly mixed and filtered....
prep is the most important part of any paintwork, make sure its perfect, degreased and tac ragged.
make sure its baked off properly, or else in this weather it will bloom like hell

iff nobody else will tell you i will
you wet flat with a block and somthing like 2000 grit wet and dry,use plenty of clean water and some soap can help the paper move. not everyone doing car paint has a booth with oven, and the ones i know who paint to a proffesional standard do this. then its g3 compound with the buffer. theres loads of little tips to get good paint work like painting the panels when they are nice and warm and having heat in the area where your painting

with black i only use base and clear not solid as its one of those git colours lol, key it all up nicely, panel wipe to degrease and go for it, you dont want to be wet flatting it under the bonnet, so in that sense you could use sold under there, providing the prep works up to scratch or not excuse the pun lol

na it wont mate, providing you have keyed the area up well enough and desgreased should go ok if you can paint, just ake sure the base coat has gone off beforore applying the clearcoat, if you want to use solid then so be it its under bonnet so as long as slam panel and wing edges etc good a slight imperforation on struts etc isnt gonna notice so much, preporation is the key
get in there degrease the fuck out of it with any engine degreaser and a scotch pad get all crap out there, get it dry, scotch it again with panel wipe which is a solvent based degreaser which evaporates in secs, then once more with panel wipe on a rag. then hit it, ps panel wipe is only a tenner ish for a gallon drum, if you have imperforations then you might need to flat, but in all fairness for under bonnet i would just wetflat the bits with 500 before the scotch / degrease process, blacks a git it does show up shrinkage etc, maybe a bit of primer wouldnt go a miss if theres any areas that need attention, dont go mad tho just a decent can localised on specific bits will be ok, when dry just flat it with eh 500 in soapy water dont get me wrong i use 2k primer but also been known to use a hi build can for little or quick bits, all depends on how confident you are
ps scotch is a scotch pad they do red and grey use grey its lighter

dunno about anyone else but if your painting in a old garage its a good idea to wet the floor to stop the dust flying around, also i use a airline all round the car or panel and masking to remove any possibility of shit flying out when wafting.
i have painted and had water come out of a nook and spaz my first coat up, i blow it off first now then panel wipe and tack rag

i did my respray in the garage, and just covered all bases, byt cleaning the area meticulously, soaking the floor several times, sheeting the area and sealing gaps in doors etc, then using a space heater and extractor unit. cheap spray booth that gave awesome results!!!
i gave my engine bay the same amount of prep as the outer panels, so flatted with 400, then hi build primer 2 coats, then flatted 800, panel wiped, tackrag'd, and then sprayed 2 or 3 coats base, plus the 2 coats laquer. only difference was i wet flatted the outside 2000 and polished, but the bay i left as finished from the gun, as the shit in the paint was non existent due to the garage set up, and the orange peel was minimal. its more than adequate for the finish of a bay where like 75% of it is hidden under engine and ancillaries
