pics would be great, i already own an rs2000 4x4 but dont really want to track that.
also my thinking behind the fiesta was that it has scope to upgrade in future when the times right. the rs2000 is great as a track toy in standard form but there isnt much out there in terms of upgrades. no one seems intrested in the i4

Yeah but you don't really need a lot of parts. A set of good dampers (koni/bilstein) and big brakes is all you need in a Fiesta Si really. If you want it a bit quicker, throw a 2 litre engine in but on a track it won't make a huge amount of difference.

i love fords and this will be a joint venture with a mate. we are setting up a bank account for us to pay into monthly to fund repairs/upgrades and so on.

I must say that if you want to be brave and remove the ford blinkers, theres a load of better track ready cars to be had than the zetec S. Ive done trackdays for 10 years now and have had all sorts of fords, and spent many a thousand on the way..
Hence now im driving a shitbox of a primera GT - I had enough of chasing bulshit power figures and am having as much fun in my flying turd as i did in cars owing me thousands.
The essence if your sharing with mates, is keep it simple, know your limits and dont be too upset if one of you bins it big style.
If your insistant of ford, the RS2000 would be a better bet IMO over the fiesta, cos although the fiesta handle exceptionally well, you'll soon be missing the extra grunt on the faster bits that the 2k will give you. Plus the 2k will be cheaper to buy in the first place.
Ive got a good mate who tracks a Mk5 rs2000 and its a real strong car, and we have many a laugh on trackdays, cos the 2 cars are fairly evenly matched.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
How much you wanna spend fella ?
My RS1800 track car cost me Ł350, but no owes me Ł5k after I've added Carbon roofs etc
But for under Ł1k you can buy a reasonable Fiesta make it handle and brake then away you go really.

we are looking at around a 2k budget to begin with, but we will have a back up fund in a shared bank account incase we stack it or need replacement parts and so on.
some good ideas above, i really like the mk3 fez and have been offerd a very good solid base model 1.1 which will give us the scope to start with a good base. the car is cheap enough to buy and will have loads of money left to buy a 2.0 lump to go in..
its still in the thinking stage at the mo so this is good information for us. but as said above we have decided it must have a ford badge
