I Stick by me saying a decent "stage 3" cossie (500 cooler, T34 etc) would out-power an Evo running 1.6Bar fairly easily, My old "stage 3" saff on greens running 23Psi could muller most things, and I never lost a race to an Evo, but again there are so many variables it dosn't really make a conclusive arguement. However I do think that a decent YB makes better torque than an Evo, which might be why Cossies feel so quick.
Just gets boring on here with EVO owners banging on about how great they are, they fucking should be 20 years down the line ...

end of the day we own the cars we do for our own reasons
imo a stage 3 to me means chip greens filter exhaust map sensor and 330hp 330lbft, no turbo change, no cooler change
imo a stage 1 evo means downpipe, decat, filter, remap, fuel pump and model dependant between 350 and 380 hp 350lbft
thats what i based my reply on

Not sure if you know how right you actually are there - my Cossie melted a piston once after a highspeed run back from McDonalds in Weston Super Mare

Still, I did love it, and when it worked, it worked very effectively.
I like both cars a lot, and there's some fair comments from both sides. I think most rational people realise the merits of both cars, and as per Wil, what car you choose is down to personal preference.
I like my Evos most, but still love a Fast Ford, hence being on here

my old bmw touring kept in front of my mates evo8.no were near from standing start but once rolling and that was at 282bhp, his evo was the lowly 260 or 280 to start with but had been chipped etc with a bigger cooler.... just thought id add that

In my eyes the Sierra driver was using better lines "most "of the time where the Evo driver was trying to cut corners. i reckon a crafty move leaving the pass to the right time might have meant he could pass. I was well impressed on how the Sierra drove around him on a few of the corners. My Sierra handled crap but was awesome in a straight line. I have had a stage 3 "Stu at MSD" tuned 4x4 Cossie and now I have an EVO4 RS with a standard Evo6 engine in it but with some suspension bits. I miss the Cossie for power and sheer grunt but the short geared RS with some decent power and handling is great and I cannot wait to cane it around Knockhill this year.

Perhaps you should ring up Dean or Mark they deal with both on a daily basis, dont be surprised if your beloved Cossie dont get a mention cos the EVO is superior in all respects. We are in 2008 now not 1988 an EVO is a vastly superior car. People own Cossies cos they like them, & the name is Iconic, that wont change, but they cant cut it Power for Power these days.

Fail to see your point really Rod? ...If you read through my posts I say exactly that ... But this is passionFORD, not passion BMW/EVO/SKYLINE etc , if people want to slate cossies why not go there? Pisses me off, all the ex-Cossie owners stay on PF and bitch about old Fords, when they had them they loved them, I still love my Cossies and fast fords in general, if people only picked the best performance car to drive the world would be a very boring place.

put the right set up on a 200 block (greens a good GT28R turbo with rs500 intercoller group a coil with a good chip) the most important on 4wd GAZ coilovers gold and get me an evo 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 what ever in 350bhp range, the blue oval is always in front

This is EXACTLY the point, there are loads of "better" cars out there, but we don't need to be told 24/7 about them ... As petrol heads most of us can appreciate a good performance car whatever the make , but I just have a thing for rusty old fords for some reason
