Default non dealer warranties....

anyone got or used an aftermarket warranty company-warranty direct etc etc.
they seem to promise so much but i have never used them...........

im just considering buying a warranty for an rs6 audi if i decide to keep it,due to high costs of repairs/failures.i could do the repairs myself but the cost of parts im sure would be ridiculous!

im getting quotes around £500 for a warranty with £5000 per claim and only limited up the value of the car-15k.

thanks in advance.....

I had an aftermarket warranty on a zafira that the wife had. had the car a few months and the power steering gave up. the warranty company told us to take it to a garage to get a quote for the repair , then gave them the go ahead. Didnt take long to get sorted out and she was back on the road again. Thing is , I cannot remember the name of the warranty company.

dont know any names of company's etc
but my old work sold warranty's with cars
they were murder for bigger claim stuff, little things they just told you to inspect and anything under 200 or so they'd say just to do it
above that they want to send out an engineer who'd always try and get out of it or if they had to pay it they would say just reuse this or that as its not unsafe to reuse(blue discs anr roasted pads for a fooked caliper etc) just asshole to be honest
then they'd take 3 months from date of invoice to pay you your money
and they make you fill out so many forms and paperwork rtc
but this from the garages point of view
customers view may be differant but certainly heard lots complaining about the warranty company as well

My new car had a 3 month AA warranty, and it had a few problems, which I had to end up paying for the repairs myself, the AA squirmed out of every penny.

There is just far too much small print that they can fall back on in the event of an expensive claim. They were VERY rude to me over the phone too.

Most of them arnt worth the paper there written on

Most call everything wear and tear , they are fussy about high miles cars or high performance cars

Always read the small print very very carefully

i remember we had a rover 220 coupe turbo with a melted piston that put down to wear and tear at 50k miles, they said its a charcteristic of turbocharged engines
never known a piston to melt due to wear and tear lol

ive dealt with quite a few warranty companies through work and most arent worth it imho, most wont cover any diagnostics costs, some will only use the cheapest parts available and wont authorise the fitting on genuine parts due to cost, i wouldnt bother personally.

yes but there are a couple of companies that allow for the car to be taken to main dealers for repairs.
just been looking on the rs6 websites and quite a few seem to use the likes of warranty direct rather than continuing the main dealer extended warranty and seem to be happy with them.
i know the poxy 3 month warranties that dealers sell with their cars for £99 arent too clever but just thought the 5k per claim,12month warranties for circa 5-600 p/a may have been better.......

Default Warrenty

Hi Jay

Saw this company advertised in the Sunday Mirror a while back.
http://www.warrantywise.co.uk/
Recommended by Quentin Willson.
Not had any experience of them though.
Might be worth getting a quote and reading the small print.

I wouldn't bother with warranty. The one thing you claim for is the one thing they don't pay out for!!

I tried to claim for a coolant temp sensor replacement on my Skoda, which thanks to people on here I had a ground to argue with. When I explained what a temp sensor did I was told to send the invoice to them. Got my cheque today, tokk about a month.

I needed an oxygen sensor replaced also, which warranty company still paid for out of warranty (But it was reported on last day of warranty and not completed till 2 weeks later due to part not available).

They offered my to continue the warranty for £350, which I have declined as if I need parts that cost alot of money I will go 2nd hand or pattern parts. The local dealer will be doing cambelt change shortly so if it fails I have a comeback! Otherwise everything will be done by myself as I will be buying Vag-Com for diagnosis.

I was with LLoyds Warranty aka Car Care Plan.
