Default new here quick question

hi im Ryan and im new here, wondering if you guys can help me im trying to find out if the engine in an N reg escort 1.4 8v is a valve safe engine if the cambelt has snapped?
i cant check the car as its not mine but is it worth just slapping a new belt on or leave it well alone?

Cheers

cvh's aren't a safe engine
but as you 'll need to strip the timing covers off either way its worth the 5 mins it takes to try a belt on it 1st just in case you get lucky
welcome by the way

Welcome, as said bung a belt on, it's going to need a new one anyway, if they were going slow etc when it happened you could be lucky even with a unsafe engine.

the car hasnt been bought yet so just looking at the options, its one of those cheap buys that could make money lmao, if it has damaged the valves im guessing it would probably be cheaper to just change the engine or the head complete?
