I love the fit of this cage, very snug on the A pillar and the door bars arent too awkward to get past, definitely something i would fancy if i was in the market for a cage.

what about having door bars that are hinged at the door hinge end and open with the door but slot in place when you close the door? they obviously wouldn't be as strong as proper door bars and won't provide any stiffening effect (but you have the frame connectors underneath doing that don't you?). they would just be effective against the door being pushed inwards.

Thanks lads
Ive just agreed that X-Sport fit me a new cage after a long chat think they can supply just what I want & only 3 miles from my house.
Dash/Screen & full interior will come out cos they suggest thats the best way. Will be able to use back seats with removable bars etc.
This cage will be strong & still allow me to use my car on the streets if I wish. Dont like cages, Dont want one in my car, BUT, ive listened to & heeded the advice given, even Mr. Shead is happy.

It's exactly what i want when i eventually get my Evo caged The door bars are nice and solid, but still pretty looking and dont actually hamper access to severely

TBH a 200mph accident is going to be a real big one and i hope it never happens, but one has to ask if there should be such a horrific thing would a cage really help?

At 200mph a cage is still going to help. Sure if you hit something solid it wont make much difference but as has been explained your talking about multi-roll over. Look at the difference the cage made in the reyland crash which was very high speed.

Yes, if you don't hit anything really solid or heavy it will save your life most probably. We mean massive roll of course not crashing into something.

The only downside to having the A pillar so not visable from the side is that it has actually created a BIG blind spot for the driver, so may look great but in a performance car impractical, Lovelly door bars though.

I wonder if I can get one like that for my Mk1! I'm guessing OMP's one for the mk1 escort isn't the same as that!

if you ever watch drag racing some of the funny cars and top fuel'rs do over 300 mph and they flick over, hit the wall, roll over etc and yes they usually walk away

308mph is the fastest car I've done rollcage/chassis work on but but drag cars are not only doing these high speeds but also still accellerating very very hard... anyway enough talk about fast cars no back to rods. lol
