i can understand you may get on very well with Ash, but being the 'rs500 registrar' YOU should know all about this car.

well, i would think that you or Darren would know of most of the rs500 cars that are about and know the 'bad apples' out there.

yes this is my old car.yes it has been re-shelled-there is no number in the shell(or wasnt when i sold it).,and i would say it has never had a number in it ever.however i had the stamped up floor piece from the original shell,which went to the new owner.

i spent a few quid on it over the time as it was standard when i bought it-very quick car.

its a good spec,quick car in decent condition-but never worth big,big money.

Hi dave i am sure between paul & i we do indeed know most cars out there , but it's not for us to comment as that would not be fair to the owner ,hence the ask the owner comment , it's fair enough that previous owners of the car comment as they use to own it .

when i sold it i told the new keeper all about its history that i was aware of............the big power engine was not an rs500 one,but i gave him the rs500 bottom end with the car.

sadly it looks like he is chosing not to-if he was a bit more honest he would probably sell it(if he wasnt being so greedy!).

well if it has not even got a 500 lump in it and no 500 i.d what exactly is it?a 3 door?although i am sure its still a cracking car!surely the price is way over the top?

like i said before....and Jay has cleared things up now(and i think 99.9%of people in here think he's trustworthy!) this car is an over priced re shelled RS500....end of!!

so ,lets get this right.

It is a re shell, and it dont have the original rs500 engine???

so basicly i could buy an rs500 id of some one breaking one,spend 1k on some rear spoilers and call mine a 500 lol, because according to this you dont need the numbers in the floor or the engine to constitute owning a 500.

So if outlay a couple of K i could make my car worth 10k more lol,,, sounds like a plan

I do know all about this car what is wrong is that people are talking about it that DONT , and the fact they havent asked is whats wrong

I know the topic starter wasnt trying to have a go it was a simple question , its all this bollocks about it not being a 500 if its been reshelled that does me in

If it or any other 500 has been reshelled into a brand new shell it will still retain its origonal ID and that will still make it a 500 , only if it carries another ID will it not be a 500

but if the car was sold with the rs500 block along with the car-it is still altogether an rs500,which could easily have the correct block re-fitted.

if he isnt selling it with the correct bottom end,then that would be a different story.

its always going to be a lower end of the market rs500(which is how i valued it when i bought/sold it).problem is establishing where the bottom end of the market is,especially as time goes on and they become rarer.
maybe 17k or so is bottom end money now...........

i would personally refit the bottom end,sell the big spec motor seperate and then sell the car as a complete rs500.

i think the be-all and end-all is that the car has a bit of history-just like a lot of cars out there.
however its solid,fast and has potentially all the correct rs500 parts with it.

and its worth what someone will pay........good luck to him.i got what i needed for it,maybe he will too.

If you contacted me ( on the phone ) not on a forum as a buyer i would have told you everything i know about this car and told you

1, what I feel its true value is
2, everything i know about the car , good and bad points
3, what i thought it was worth as a min ( ie its value as parts )
4, what to look for regards correct parts
5, if i thought this was a car that meets with what you would want out of you 500 ( ie , as an investment or just a daily driver )

Na am probs way off mark here like but surely if this car is reshelled to stay a 500 it wud have to be reshelled in a 500 shell wi 500 id in the floor to make it a real 500 as it left the factory, And not a set of numbers off original 500 they come off say in a 3 door shell or motorsport shell.would i be wrong saying that?

LIKE I SAID IN AN EARLIER REPLY if the car was reshelled into a NEW shell then it will retain its origonal ID and that will make it still a 500

If reshelled into another USED shell then the car will have the logbook of that shell so then wont be a 500 , it will be whatever that logbook says

simple realy

And for those that dont know , A 500 shell is exactly the same as a std 3 door shell , due to the fact that ALL rs500"S started life as a std 3 door and went to tickford to be stripped and rebuilt into a rs500

17.5k for a daily driver?......look around you can buy FAR better than this for that money...FACT!...and that is all i'm going to say on the matter

I can remember a post in this forum where a RS500 was left under a barn roof that a rich owner had just kind of forgotten about.....you were practically wanting to save(rescue) it!..unlike this car thats been for sale for AGES!...maybe not the same thing,BUT...i can't see you parting with your cash for the above mentioned car!

I just think it should be advertised appropiatley....imagine a genuine buyer that bought that car and then came in here or the RSOC BB and was then subjected to all these home truths about this car??.......would you want that????????

Thats why there are registrars mate who would be stupid enough to part with any amount of cash without doing there homework first

I am always willing to help anyone wanting to buy / sell or just want info on rs500"s

Sadly we cant control how anyone advertises there car for sale ,and for what price , all we can do is offer advice where and when we can and hope that the buyer and seller have a deal there both happy with

well,that to me sounds like a stupid thing to do,sod traders fee's ETC.....surely there has to be SOME leniency to these(trader) rules when registrars can't even display thier contact details???

FFS....i dont know how you can be bothered paul, this post has confirmed...best way to sell a cossie is in bits....no matter how nice it is

saves on blood pressure going through the roof dealing with all the "experts"
