Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Nearly drowned in Hastings when I was about 12, warning flag went up 2 mins after going in the water.
Hospital counted 340 odd cuts/grazes after being washed up on the rocks, I was saved by a lifeguard and my Dad, who both nearly died rescuing me.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
in keeping with the XR2 theme
mine was having a rear tyre blowout at 90 sending me into a massive broadside and down into a ditch , as the font end dug in the bottom of the ditch the car started to barrel roll and as it started to go over i braced myself by pushing on the roof which popped out the sunroof and i ended up half in the car / half out through the sunroof with my head between the roof and ground for the remaining 7 or 8 rolls !
again no seatbelt on
it hurt a lot !

Had a pretty close one on the back of an RAF Hercules, we hit severe wind rotors in the Falklands just after we took off, aircraft was all over the place, captin screaming down the headsets doesn't inspire confidence , missed the floor by about 50 feet as the downdraft was so severe we lost 700 feet in about 10 secs, a combination of luck and skill saved the day, really did think our numbers were up that day ....Quite sobering..
And had a fucking close one a few months ago, I was in Kandahar airbase, Afghanistan. We were out servicing one of the Hercs, doing engine ground runs after a burner nozzle change. Finished the job, and drove back in to the office. As we walked in, all we heard was a "WHOOOOOOOOOSH" (as the rocket flew over our heads!) then "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!" We all hit the deck as we are trained to do, waited for the attack to stop. The Taliban fire 81mm rockets into us , they have a lethal blast radius of about 90 meters (basically anything inside that area gets shredded!). Well, we went out to check for any unexploded ordanance, and damage to anything, and the aircraft we had been working on had been hit doing a fair bit of damage to it...... 5 mins earlier we had been stood there. Scary shit

Being the passanger in an S1 sliding towards the corner of a brick wall at about 60mph, I remember the feeling of the corner of the wall ramming into my leg and seeing the dash shatter in about 5 bits. We had to kick the front screen out and climb out that way. car was bent like a banana. Fortunately we were both ok, I had a sore leg and side from the wall, but it could have been very nasty.
Racing a VFR 1000 in my Corsa Turbo, foot welded to the floor, behind him about a cars length away in 6th around 160 (by the speedo) along a straight road. I know the road well but had never pushed on that hard along it, the road dips pretty sharply then shortly after again into a very slight right hander. As we both come to the first dip we both took off, completely airbourne, then as the bike landed he had a massive tank slapper and I landed nose first behind him and the back end bounced and skipped about from side to side. I vividly remember pointing at both walls while fighting to straighten up again before the next dip and bend. I kept my foot in as I figured lifting off would only cause me to die. Got it straight, round the bend and the bike throttled on hard again so I followed suit and we continiued playing for another 10 minutes or so. That could have ended so very very horribly and I always remember it clearly as I drive that road and now slow down a lot at that point if Im pressing on a bit.

Was climbing a fence at my aunts about 10 years ago, it was a metal one, with decorative spikes on top, im climbing up, my foot slips and i get a spike right in my chest.
I couldnt get the strength in my arms or legs to lift myself off, and my little cousin - who was just 6 year old at the time ran to get my mum and aunt, by the time they got to me i managed to get off but was bleeding pretty heavily, went to hospital and got stitched up, they said it was close to going through my lung, which could have killed me, but it never so i guess my time wasn't up?
Must have been on the spike less than 20secs? or so and it felt like fucking ages of panic trying to get myself off.
Had a few close calls in cars, have a mate who we always joke about being either brave or stupid - somethings he does are brave, others are stupid, needless to say i can recall a couple of times in his cars when i've shit myself. But nothing too bad.

Not quite a brush with death...but earlier this year I went on a diving trip. I made my ascent and at around 7 metres I started to suffer from reverse ear block. Which is where the air in your ear starts to expand as you rise but has no has where to go, as a result your ear drum goes pop!
My head started to bang, I could either go down to cure the pain and stay down there until I ran out of oxygen, or surface and risk losing my hearing for the rest of my life. I clung onto the side of a cliff to control my ascent; it took me over 30 minutes to climb 7 metres. As I was just a few feet from the surface the pain was getting intense and I thought my ears were about to go pop, thankfully they held out; but if I had to climb another foot or two it could have been a lot worse.
Some people just aren't made to dive, I'm one of them - so I'm keeping my white arse out of the sea and in the pool

Ealing bomb was fun we walked just into the pub right near it as the fucking thing went off blew all glass over us and wondering wtf has just happened we was all ok just a few glass cuts lucky we walking in not out as would of been face into it.

when i was about 3 or 4 on my first trip to the beach, we stopped i got out the car and ran for the water, immediately got knocked down and dragged out, got washed onto some rocks in about 5 feet of water and luckily mnaged to hang on til my dad come for me. my parents went nuts and i didnt go in the sea for years!
about 6 years ago doing well into triple figures riding pillion on a triumph daytona along an A road between stoke on trent and buxton we hit two bumps in the road and my feet we dislodged from footpegs, as i was holding onto the handle behind me, i fell backwards, my feet were level with my stepdads head when he realised what was going on and threw the brakes on almost putting us both over the handle bars. i wouldve died if it wernt for his quick reactions.
a couple of years ago, on my brother bike, he was looking over to his mate to his left as we approached a left hand bend at around 60, we went over the white line and he didnt realise what was happening until the wheels were about 6" paralell to the curb. flung to bike down into the bend hard and we were lucky enough not to bin it. the other side of the curb was a 3 foot drop peppered with rocks.
then on hallowee, again on my brothers bike, pulling out of a carpark the bikes rear tyre all of a sudden locked up. after a quick look it was obvious three of the 4 bolts holding the rear sprocket to the whel had sheared off, 2 were missing and the 3rd had worked its way out and jamed itself between the wheel and swing arm. had one of the three bolts done that moments before or after when we were doing god know what speed, we wouldve been off the bike and were wearing nothing but open faced helmets and lycra halloween costumes.
oh and i nearly punch some gangster in the face on the doors who im told wouldve come and shot me luckily a doorman who knows him was there and pulled me away
there are others to but i cba to type em out as theyre not that exciting.
think i ned to stay away from motorbikes though

When I was 14 I was in School and I felt awful. I told my teacher I felt poorly and he told me I was fine. I kept falling in and out on consciousness and they called me an ambulance. The goons employed my School enemy to keep my Concious and he kept slapping me in the face. Anyway, the Ambulance came and asked me had I been taking any drugs, to which I said no. My parents were called in and they asked them if I had taken any drugs, they said no too. I was sent home and spent a few days in bed and I was back at School.
I soon felt terrible again and I decided to go home; as I got through the door I felt the room spinning and nobody was in. Was such an awful feeling. I felt as though the television was chasing me around the room. My mum soon came in and I told her I felt bad and she called me an Ambulance. When they came, they asked me had I taken any drugs, and I said no. They told my mum I had taken something, and she disagreed. They told her they didn't think I should be taken to hospital, and should sleep it off. My mum told them I wasn't on anything, and ordered I am taken to hospital. By now I am more or less out of it, but I am standing up and stuff, although I do not remember it. On the way to the Hospital, I stopped breathing. As I arrived at the Hospital, my heart stopped. My mum said they took a pair of Scissors and ripped my T-Shirt up the middle, and before she knew it their was a crowd of doctors and nurses around me.
Turns out I had Encephalitis; which is water on the brain, and my Body was closing down. If my mum had not demanded I go to the hospital, my chances of being here typing this now would be very, very slim.
I spent a long time in Intensive care, and when I recovered the school had Raised nearly a Ł500 for me, and I recieved a Ł30 Mobile phone. I was robbed, blind. Anyway, since then I have suffered from horrendous seizures. Thankfully, I am on a tablet which keeps them under control.
Benni.

when i was a kid we was running accross some roofs, jumping buildings and one of em was a buss garage glass fibre roof, about 50 foot high and me and a mate fell though it,,,,,,, landed on a staircase to the office and fell down the stairs instead of the 50 foot drop
oh and almost hit by a train playing on train tracks as a kid too crossing infront of a tunnel, that scared the fuck out of me too

I clipped a car doing 186mph on my gixxer 1000. I was heading over a very large bridge and this dodge neon.... well, I swiftly removed the drivers mirror at a 120mph difference between the barrier and the car (about 3 feet wide at 1/4 the speed of sound).
Obviously lived. Purchased new underwear later in the day.

Scary shit
Sounds pretty scary mate! Where are you based? I'm an aircraft engineer at Lyneham working on the hercules

Some horrendous accidents above mind, you lot should play the lottery
A patch of subsidence in the middle of a left hand bend had me destroy a fence and my right forearm a couple of years ago Thankfully im now alright, but my life flashed before my eyes as the bars shook from side to side even with my Sprint steering damper

Big car crash when I was 19. Upside down in a field for 3/4 of an hour before being finally cut out by the fire brigade. In intensive car for a few days with collapsed lung, fractured skull, dislocated elbow and numerous cuts and bruises. They had told my parents that if my lung didn't reinflate, then they didn't know how long I would have. Luckily it reinflated of it's own accord within 24 hours, and I awoke to find my Mum sitting at the foot of the hospital bed a day after the accident (unconscious for over 16 hours). I couldn't figure out why the fuck my Mum was in my bedroom watching me sleep . I don't remember anything about the accident at all and when they told me my car had "landed on me", I thought I had been working on it, and the jack had failed and fallen on me .
When they clarified what had happened, all I kept asking was my best mate okay? I had lost so much of my memory at the time, that I couldn't remember that I had dropped him off a few hours before the accident and was on my way to see my girl-friend .
Was an X1/9 and luckily I it was a beautiful day, so I had the targa roof off. If it had been in place, then I wouldn't be here today, as the fractured skull was received from landing in a freshly ploughed field, and the rear roof line where the targa panel clips to was below my head level as I was trapped upside down . So if the panel had been in place, then it would have been this that would have impacted my head instead of the soft earth . Some say this is the reason I am the way I am .
Took over a year for me to have full extension of my elbow, but I was out of the hospital within 8 days (hated the place, all I my body wanted to do was sleep 18 hours a day to recover, and the nurses kept waking me up ), but off work for 6 weeks.
From then on, I have always treated life as when your number's up, its up and there is nothing you can do about it. That day was just not my time to go (despite my best efforts ), so rather than making me more cautious, I think that is what turned me into an adrenaline junky .
