Default 50inch tv's

looking at getting a 50inch. been around pc world an currys today but got well confused by sales men.
I want a 50inch 1080p (most were 720p) preferably not sure on plasma or LCD.

need help and links please

i would think plasma at that size and 720 vs 1080 depends how far away your sat.

about 10ft away mounted on the wall, not bothered about playing blu ray really as just have normal dvd player, I do have Xbox 360 that I will play on it but not got it set to HD. I currently have 32inch lcd sanyo

Chart to help you decide, seems 720 would be best suited unless you move closer you wont get much benifit with 1080. If there is no price difference then it doesnt matter.

I sit 4 ft away from a 26" which is 720 and its perfect.

i have a 50" plasma,1080 samsung,, got it in currys it a sieries 6 if i remember correctly.
But i sit about 12ft away , occasionaly 6ft but you wouldnt want to be on top of it.
I have a 37" in the other room , thats an LG lcd1080 and i couldnt tell the difference between the 2 picture qualitys.both good , i think it is possible to go over the top as they are all good these days if you ask me
