The curvey sidepods look great with no flip ups on them but the front wing looks a mess. I rekon there could be alot of breakages early in the season

The whole point of the new cars is to give back the mechanical grip, and take away most of the downforce producing aero package, to firstly make the cars easier to drive, as they won't be as dependant on downforce for thier corner speed, and to make it easier to overtake as the chasing car won't be in as much "dirty/turbulant" air.
Should have done it years ago, more like 800BHP go-karts now, the racing will be a lot closer I think, especially the tail-enders as the HUGE cost of aero R&D will be greatly reduced

Regenarative bullshite. Generates kinetic energy underbraking.
If they use it as a ''push to pass'' that will be utter shite. Talent should be used to overtake not a fuckin boost button.
Had plenty of overtaking this year.

Sadly thats not the case. If you want the grid to get closer to each other. You need technical stability. Which we've had more or less (Save for engine & gearbox lifespan) for a good few years now. Thats why teams like Toro Rosso can make such gains in the last 2 years.
Its when the rules change like next year that the teams have to go and spend a large percentage of their income researching new technology and how to get the best from it. KERS is horrendously expensive introduction. In fact Ferrari (and possibly McLaren depending on how their recent tie in with a 3rd party company goes) won't even have it next year! Ineveitably the less well funded teams can't afford to throw miney at it. So come March next year, they'll be behind again trying deperately to make time up.
Williams looks fairly similar.

I agree, I love all the little details on the car. The flip ups, shows real ingenuity and progression. And that to me is what F1 is about.
These new cars look like a F3 car wing stuck on a 1996 F1 car.

As mentioned already they do look really strange but it was the same when they raised the front wing endplate a few years ago, increased the minimum size of the rear end plate & especially when they changed to the current narrow track/grooved tire rules - to my eyes they all looked terrible! After a few races we'll get used to it i'm sure, plus the aero packages will change a lot before march.
The new regulations have been well thought out as they tested with 2 cars in the wind tunnel to try reduce the effects of turbulence on a following car.
KERS is actually optional for next year, Autosport reckon teams may use it at some tracks and not at others depending on how the 60kg (total weight of the energy recovery system) affects the car.
