arrrgggghhhhhhhh
bloody cars.
Think i've just fooked my Alcon 6 Paddle clutch. I take it you can't get them fixed and i have to buy a new one?
And to think i don't really give my car much abuse. How much am i looking at? Think it had a standard cover on it.
shouldnt they last a bit longer than one year? also not having a cluch go on me before, what are the symptoms? it whines really bad in 1st, 2nd, 3rd but much worse when changing down (like 3rd to 2nd).
What a crap night.

Aparantly you can get the contact surfaces re-faced or have new friction pads put on again if thats the way to word it.
Not quite sure as to where you get it done but remember there being a post not to long back about it
A year isnt bad going, my alcon paddle had about 2 - 3 months use and is was showing severe signs of cracking and wear around the edges of all the friction pads!
But it did get miss-treated in a hard way.
That also sounds more like gearbox problems/noises to me (but im no expert!)

Are there any tests i can do? or do i need to just take it to a garage and say "please sir....bill me"
It's not really funny as the brakes on Kims S2 just gave up so now we have no driveable cars

not that anyone probably cares but.....
Turns out i had a faulty starter motor.
Ordered one from Woodford Garage (turned up next day as usual, top service ) and fitted it this weekend.
No need for a new clutch or gearbox As we started to remove the bell housing we noticed the casing on the starter motor was loose
Took it off and it practically fell apart
Seems the "gear part" was sticking on the fly wheel (excuse the lack of technical knowledge).
Anyway if you ever get anything like this it may be worth checking before ordering a clutch!!! (it was a lot cheap to replace).
Well happy
Just need to figure out the S2 fuel leak now

It Wasnt Me!
i had the tank/hose join on my S1 problem, changed for a brand new hose, still leaked, tried it with cap off and new hose, nope.....the spout the hos egoes over wears thin, and actually lets petrol seep through, even tho it looks fine/uncorroded....i stuck a new tank in mine and it was perfect first time, not a drip. it baffled me for months till i got told what was actually happening as i never thot that could happen if it didnt look corroded!!!

Did you check the breather? As i still need to check that.
The tank is about 2 years old
new cap (2 months ago)
New hose (today!!!)
but might buy a new tank if that would solve it. what about the pump? could a faulty pump build up pressure?
Cheers

hmmm, and u replaced the hose, ok, not sure on the question about a faulty pump, but if you can source / borrow one cheapish second hand then worth a try i guess
If not, could be as dave says, tank trouble, likely a hairline crack in or around the tank spout

nah pump sucks and builds up pressure u wil see if u get someonme to prime the pump/start it while u look the house swells up cos it sucks the fuel into it....
breather was fine, no blockages at all. i tell y ait is the tank, wont be cracked or ought jus metal wears thin or summit and petrol seeps through under pressure, doesnt leak when u turn car off!! drips/runs down the tank, wont spray out as if their is an actual hole.
