Anyone know anything about hondas?

I'm having trouble with my runabout at the minute, it wont start! Then sometimes, it does!

Its a P plate civic VTEC, I can hear the fuel pump, it whirls over fine but doesnt fire, then for no apparent reason, it'll start up, then sometimes wont again. It does it cold or hot, and its a bit embarrassing when you've just filled up with fuel, or when your stuck at your mates house, or at home and cant get to work! Really irritating me now, I'm giving the car to my mum so I need to get it sorted and working perfect for her.

I've got a feeling its the coil, so I've cleaned the connections to it, with no joy. New plugs havent helped either!!

Any help would be mint!!

ignition amp in the dizzy 100% sure on this but i might be wrong lol

ps was the rev counter jumping about in vtec? plus its easier to just buy a full dizzy and replace the lot

no, rev counter is fine?
very very occasionally it misses very slightly when cold, you reckon this is related?
Will get new dizzy ordered today, cheers!!

i'd be tempted to get 1 from a breakers a full dizzy from honda will be about 15 grand lol.

My old rover (honda engine) sometimes wouldn't start and be very hesitant on cold damp mornings. Turned out that the distributor cap thing had cracked and was letting damp in overnight. Could be this?

i'll whip it to bits and have a ganders at it. will see if i can get an amp for it

I had this a while back and we get quite a lot at work, you can get patten parts for the dizzy or a recon complete unit, if going to the scrappy try and find out if the car started when it came in or get one off a crashed one that way you know it was driving before its life ended, or you mite just get another faulty one as its a common fault.

hi mate dizzy went on my vti as well couple yrs ago.I bought a new unit from company called phase distribitors cost me about 170 brand new.hope this helps.
