Default any dishwasher experts on here?

i have an AEG oko favorit 5040 that is not working properly.

it doesn't seem to fill up with enough water, as the heating element doesn't get covered. if you stop it in the cycle and add water from a jug until it covers the element, the element heats the water as it should. but then nothing happens until it pumps out. there is no pump running to pump the water up through the spraying arms.

guess that's what you get for buying secondhand off ebay. the seller claims it was working and will refund me. we'll see. but if possible i would like to get it running. i'm pretty handy with electrical and mechanical things like this, so hopefully with a few pointers i can either get it going or throw it out.

thanks

fixed it now - the pump was blocked/seized. it was hot so i could tell it had been trying to run. i spun it up by hand to remove the blockage (dried up shite where it had stood idle for a bit i guess) and it works fine now

My dishwasher works quite well tbh...it's getting on abit now as it's 26yr's old but in general bar a few emmotional break downs its still operating fully. I can recommend a Jo to anyone, even good with my crystal wears, no scratching etc.

totally agree Stu, I have the Emily model, slightly older at 29! but still very reliable, just have to apply a good doseage of white grease to the moving parts on a regular basis..

Wouldnt know where to begine stripping down my 26yr old Jo tbh...sommot that old is gonna have wear and tear that i'm gonna have no interest in seeing. Im sure Matt is the same with his even older version......either way, warranty is well out of the window, deffo with mine as I invalidated the warranty by forcing something up into the outlet pipe
