raises an interesting point, i'm thinking about breaking my car too, btu because of the bodywork, the engine and bernie box are fine, just the dent put in it the other day pissed me off
its worth more in bits than as a whole especially as it doesnt run at the moment.

M8 just spend the grand on the box
u can't spend all that on the engine etc and then break it
why did'nt you just build the spec up to 220bhp at the start and leave it at that

220 would still leave most cars behind you. i know its built for better power but it might keep you interested in the car long enough for you to get a stage 2!

i dont think you should break it, im not sure if you use it over winter but at least give it till spring to see if a cheap(ish ) box turns up, if i was you id be heartbroken breaking it after all the hard work and ŁŁ's gone into it.

what i dont under stand u spend all the money on eng and all the other top stuff that goes with the car. but the most or if not one of the top things that goes with a top bhp rst is a good gear box any one knows that

It aint about the costs involved but rather the Fun Factor or should be, and balancing the cost vs fun.

ello mate slight delema i see, tiz hard sometimes looking at all that money/car sat on the drive/garage, its that really it depends on do you see wasted money? or a rude mota? i can see it being harder for you haveing bought the mota unfinished as the initial pay out for the car is all you wanna be spending for a while anyway were as most peoples motaz have been done over periods of time/years ect now you find yourself haveing to pay big again to make it run at potential, in your shoes if moneys not a problem would garage it forget about it till spring and think on a fresh head the gearbox is an esential i went thru 8 std boxes in as many months 150 a build = 1200 looking at it that way @ 220bhp thats what it,ll cost a year then clutches say 2 a yr its the maintainance of these big power rst,s after the build that has to be considerd also so the berniz box at 1k looks good value and a tip to anybody running big power rst,s on std boxes lern to take em out and put em in because if you dont another 100 a time all mounts up dont it, ultimately you could flog ya bitz and get another big bhp s2 and have change or like ya say a cossie

can you break it for more than you paid for it?
can you get something better and trouble free for the broken price plus 1k?
id be tempted to go for the box and run it as it is... no bother with aqll the management etc.. it was proven effective as was before

As Andy says jake your heart has to be in it TBH i got Ł7500 sat in boxes etc at the moment engines not finished yet turbo's not ordered shells has to be paid for paint etc etc etc its a fucker yes but all worth it when you dust the fuckers lad

It's tricky -but u spend money on it cos its a hobby, not an investent. To be honest i dont think 1k on a box is dear in the slightest. My car is also monster spec, but I drive it every day and i love it - averaged over 130mph to work on sunday
