best thing to do then is to get the manufacturers details and compare sizes [ooh er]

get a schematic for both and see fixing points, dimensions etc and how different they are

It really depends on who makes the cage mate but I'm SURE somewhere there's a site for the Maestro's that should have dimensions or offers of advice from peeps
try PMins andyescos he's a top bloke and has been doing rallying for years so should be able to point you in the right direction.

Having said that, if its a safety devices cage their web:

http://www.safetydevices.co.uk/

good luck dude and let me know how you get on as my old man used to track a Maestro Turbo when they first came out

The most sensible thing about this whole thread im afraid

For about Ł200 you should be able to get one that fits first time, needs no welding and will save your life if you ever come to need it.

I have been watching some scruitineers at track days lately and where a cage is fitted they are actually checking the fixing points. You may not believe this but cars are now starting to appear on track days with cages that are not even bolted down

Don't do it mate .... please

I am sometimes very sensible.

admittedly, it's not often.

The guy I bought my cage off never had it bolted/welded or properly fixed in his car but hen he was from bristol and they're all a bit odd there.

But it's true

Get one for the car - I'm not sure I wanna go anywhere near a rollcage with your dodgy welding I can just imagine me driving it and getting knocked out as something falls off
