Default Quick boiler question!!

Hi -

Have noticed a few boiler related queries going up, so thought someone may be able to help!

I've got a Worcester 28i, it's not a new one, and was in the house when we bought it. Over the last few weeks it's been intermittently making a lot more noise than normal - kinda sounds like the pump/fan is not happy. On top of that it frequently fails to fire up when the hot tap's turned on.

Anyone got a clue what it could be?

Also, if the worst came to the worst, what kind of price does a new mid-range boiler cost?

Cheers!!

Is it a tinny jingly sort of noise? We had the same problem with a 28i, it was the fan unit. About £50 if I recall correctly.

Can't remember if we had the non fire up problem too, it's been a while. Why not strip it yourself and manually check the fan?

Because there's a chance I may end up breaking it and the wife will actually kill me if I do!

dont think a 28i is that old, whats the worst they can say,no they dont know, ring your local plumb centre ask them to reccomend a boiler engineer or ask worcester.like i say they have a 24hr helpline ring em now and get the ball rolling mate

oh yeah many a good tune played on an "old boiler"!
