Its a shame that his last race summed up a large proportion of his career. Felt really sorry for him after working hard to get agreement of the paddock to have his car livery changed for his last race and the send off he got before the start of the race.... just to be punted off by a mistake from the Williams combo.

Cheers,
Grant

Shame....he's had a good career tho, mainly being beaten by his team mate whenever he's had a good car. Good but not great. Fucking boring as well

I don't think that today race summed up his career, be had a good stance back with Hakinen and did well, the latter years not so good, but he's not so bad .

Thing is, when theres points at stake JB can generally beat his team mate over the course of a season........DC has always been bummed in the ass by his team mates

You have to feel for him, as how many times as he been taken out by other drivers when he was minding his own business and trying to race cleanly

Yep, he's always come across as a decent guy.. so if its true that he's going into BBC F1 commentary, then I look forward to that.

Cheers,

at least he took it on the chin eh and dind't go ranting and raving

i wonder if he felt like schumacker did when coultard caused "that" prang back in the day?

for the most part though, dc has been the unluckiest driver in f1, he's had more non fault punts than probably the rest of the field combined over the past few years

Pretty pissed off with some of the comments made above to be honest.
Admittedly he never won the world championship, but he has won quite a few races and was very cosistent IMO, usually in the top ten.
He seems like a very decent guy aswell, unlike some of the other drivers who obviously have no personality, i.e. he always had time for interviews unlike Button who's an arrogant overrated cock, the way he speaks when interviewed, he obviously has no respect for them at all.
Rumours Coultard is staying with the sport aswell are good to hear, as lets face it, F1 hasn't exactly been painted in a great light this season.
His career started on a high with Williams, and he ended up somewhat of an average joe, but i respect him and I'm sure alot of the other drivers do too. If he wasn't any good he'd have lost his drive years ago.
Edited as Dojj has made a good point above, the amount of mechanical retirements he's had have been staggering

Rog, he is good, but not great. His record against his team mates will tell you that.

I didn't say he was, all that I am saying is I think he will be a bit of a loss to F1, i looked at him as a friendly face/likeable guy, no one else really springs to mind that is like that. Hamilton is a nice guy and a deserved champion, but not the same.

coulthard is a really genuine guy.

when they were playing the bag pipes for him at the start it must have been really emotional for him, as most scottish people get a bit emotional when they hear flower of scotland on the pipes.

i will always remember when he was at mclaren and was team mates with mika, a great partnership

He's had a great career really. I'm sure his value to teams has been his ability to help develop a car more than his ( good but not brilliant )racecraft.....he'll be around F1 for a while yet is my guess.

ive actually met DC and I must admit he is a really nice bloke, gave me a great deal of his time and undivided attention.
On his day DC was really really quick, remember he's beaten Shumi, Mika and Hill yet the truth remains that he just never seemed to have enough of those days.

Ill remember DC as a gent, someone who was lucky enough to do what he loved

Bit of a sad end really. A guy that used to stay round the road from me was the guy who 1st designed his helmet style when he was in karting an painted it on for him. He also coached him when he was in the karts.
