are you talking about a cone filter or are you talking about the panel filter that goes into the airbox

i believe some tests have shown you get more power from retaining the airbox. The cone filters seem to suffer from heat soak

Cone filter for the noise if anything once the car is motoring the heat soak issue subsides a little bit, you can always shield it off to help prevent heat soak

Its only the Filtering qualities im looking for....not looks, but has to be a 'Cone' system...If i need to buy a heat shield, i will, but back to the same old question... which is the best......NOT best looking, but best for the job inteneded..........By the way I have a K&N 57i system and to me the filter seems to be coarse, allowing quite large particles through.....cant be good for the engine..............or is it???????????????????????

As long as they're cleaned and oiled as per the instructions in the box, the oil will trap the larger particles.

"Group A" cars never ran cone filters....

World cars used a cone type filter in an enclosed carbon air box.

I've got a Group A K&N on my Focus RS, have a few more horses over the smaller Focus RS Gen2 K&N, plus it looks and sounds better. But on a Cossie, the story is different I guess....I'll go with the last reply
