What Phone?
#4
............
Just got a Tocco......after a sucession of windows smartphones, noki'a and sony errikson phones I absolutely love it. Great phone out of the box. Only gripe is no wifi. A very good touch screen interface, piece of cake to use.
For those that say the interface isnt good because it's different to an i-phone, thats rubbish, it's like the difference between right and left hand drive, alien at first but after ten minutes it's second nature

Thrush is right
IPhone has a few things missing, but Ive not noticed and as I keep learning new things to do (Added my Hotmail to the "Mail" settings the other day) I am more and more impressed
BTW, Ive had a Nokia 3310 or something for 5 years before getting the IPhone :cry

Tim, there is another simple way to do it, which is mail forwarding. Hotmail doesn't support mail forwarding as standard, but what most people don't know is there is a hidden method not publicised! And I think it's a LOT easier and simpler than the IzyMail method, and just uses the iPhone's standard Mail settings (gmail is a preset within the mail app)
The easiest way to do it is to open a Googlemail account (which to be honest you should have done anyway as Hotmail is wank and Gmail is so much a better mail client) Then do the following;
1) First open your gmail account, go to setting, then account, then under "send email as" click Add another email address, and then add your hotmail account info.
2) Then log into hotmail and confirm the gmail verification that you added the hotmail account
3) In Hotmail, go to Options, then select "Mobile alerts for new messages". Go through the steps (the verfication code could take upto 10 mins for you to get). Then, after setting it up, when you are customizing the mobile service, select that you dont want to recive text alerts when you recieve an email. click next and back to hotmail when you save it.
4) Then in Hotmail, go to options, and select "Forward mail to another e-mail account". now add your gmail account, and it will let you.
5) Test it out, you should get your hotmail emails forwarded to gmail, thus your iphone
Step 3 is the most important part as without doing this hotmail will just say you cannot forward mail to any other mail address other than .msn etc...
I set it up recently on a work friends iPhone - started him a Gmail account, did the above, and it all works spot on. You can even go into the Gmail settings and specify a custom "mail from" address so that no-one ever see's your @googlemail.com address and set it up so all sent mail uses your hotmail address.

Except face book iphone style has stopped working for me today It won't reformat to the correct view for some reason.... I wonder tho if it's a facebook problem as opposed to the phone's browser.... Hmm....
EDIT - looks like a facebook layout problem. It's not displaying it correctly in a normal web-browser when using the iphone layout protocol either....

The Omnia is the new model of the Tocco... I've had an Omnia for over a month now and I think its great, had nothing but problems with my N95 so never even considered waiting for the N96 to come out.
The Omnia has a 5mp Camera and 8MB memory, although you can put a memory card in it and boost it to 16MB I think.
Cheers,
Grant

Hasn't worked for me all day - then it started working again about 2hrs ago and seems to be working fine since then. The m.facebook.com layout worked fine, but the iphone.facebook.com layout wasn't working at all.
I had the App store app, but didn't like it, and it kept crashing the phone, so I binned it off and stuck with the browser based version, which I actually like better!
It's working now tho - only took those Californians 3+hrs to fix it

A black berry is a fruit found growing wild, usually, and is often made into jam.
A Blackberry is a company that makes mobile communication devices renowned for their business intergration and push email service
The BB you are referring to is the new "Storm" - http://www.3g.co.uk/PR/Oct2008/Vodaf...m_Netwo_3G.htm
Which I am very interested to see - but they done the same fuck up as they did with the "Pearl" : they've given it a "full QWERTY" keyboard, but not individual buttons!!!!

iPhone wins again!

To be honest tho Kris, I don't really need it. Any messages or wall posts I get, I get an email to tell me, and overall, I prefer the layout of the web interface... The only thing I'd like to see on the web interface is the ability to comment on peoples status, and see comments on my status's....
