Obviously the R888 are better but they are twice the price of the Yoko's.

Are they twice as good?

What are they like wear wise (ie how many track days would you get from each)?

p.s its for Shings' Clio 172 track car and will only be driven on track.

In the dry....dont get me wrong, they are good....But in the wet they are SO SO SO shockingly shite its unreal

I had 2 sets of wheels for my 3dr, RL7's with Parada 2's & hocks with R888's, used them both on track & R888's a lot better in dry & wet but not standing water, Parada's still a very good tyre in the dry, didn't use it much in the wet on the road but they seemed ok in the wet. R888's are a lot more noisey & harsh on the rd than the Paradas as very stiff sidewalls. R888's wear out quick aswell,only start with about 5mm & v soft & expensive ! Get yourself 2 sets of wheels. I've gone down the same route with my M3 (sold the 3dr) got 2 sets of wheels ,track/road.

Parada are awsome tyres without a doubt, and last a lot longer. Good for track and road.

I think the R888 are 1 of the best types of track tyres you can get, but don't last very long on the road

I wonder if you can drive to the ring, do a few laps, drive back on a set of R888's?

I used to run R888's on my GT3 and that did over 200miles of Snetterton at about mid 1.20's and 2000 road miles before I swapped wheels.

I dont know why you are comparing R888 and Paradas though, as the Yokohama equivalent to R888 is Ao48 which are a BRILLIANT tyre and are available in 2 compounds, of which the harder one is slightly harder than the Toyo's and last ages. I use them on the front of the Drift car all the time, and on the rear for track days and they last really well. A friend of mine who competes in Time Attack in his 500bhp Scoob used them for 2 trackdays, quite a few road miles (2000+), and drove them to a trip to the Nurburgring (including sub 9minute laps) and they were still going strong and could have probably done the same again !!

R888- to the A048 is 70 quid a corner to 110 quid a corner.
R888- to the Prada is 70 quid a corner to 33 quid a corner.

Hence my question.

I am prob gonna do 4 or 5 track days.... so is that 1 set of Prada's and maybe not as competitive (its a track day afterall) or 2 sets of R888's?

In the mean time I have some used A048's for track days.

I have 2 sets of tyres and road legalness is not important- I am also looking at the Maxisport RB5 which is R888 spec but 50quid a corner.

Funny you should mention that.... a few in the know people said the same where as you're typical no all fuck all thinks they're mint.

My concern was that its a rally tyre and may over heat ?

i would think so i get 2500 miles out of my 888s ive had 3 sets all different sizes and thats road and drag use no track days as yet

Sorry, I didnt know Ao48's were that expensive - I dont pay for tyres so am a bit ignorant of price comparisons !!
