Las Vegas
Anyone ever been? I'm staying in the MGM Grand next year and just wanted to get an idea of the price for food and drink.
Also, would it be worth taking an empty suitcase to bring a load of cheap clobber back???

I went there on business last year (actually to that precise hotel) for a couple of days. Loved it, but when i got there i and a colleague were both given rooms that had not been made up (ie complete mess) then the Steak place for dinner on the ground floor was shit in every way including price. Apart from that, there were great views, loads to see and would definitely recommend it. Go to the IHOP (International House of Pancakes) for grub!

just came up from the pool - its red hot down there.....
yep... well worth bringing an empty case... exchange rate isn't as good as it was earlier this year but still well worth it

I'll keep an eye on the exchange rate and buy as soon as it looks good.
Just for example, if I bought a pair of jeans here for Ł100, what should I expect to pay in Vegas?

I found whatever we pay over here in pounds you buy for dollars over in Vegas. When I was over there last year I bought a shit load of trainers and had to buy another case to bring them home

Been there twice. Stayed at Circus Circus the first time and Bellagio the next. IT ROCKS. Best place in the world for someone like me lol.
We took a bunch of cash and some empty suitcases and bought a new wardrobe. As Hockney said it pretty much works out the same in dollars as you'd pay in pounds here. You'll love it.
Oh and as said, do the Canyon. Breathtaking. And if you have the balls do the Skywalk*
*I don't have balls!!!

Cola / Daveyboy - What was the Bellagio like to stay in ? Been looking at holiday for next year already (Not long been back from Thailand) Looking into Fly Drive Tours and that is one of the hotels to choose from in Vegas.

Ha Ha. I know how it is Helen. We're planning to go back next year already too! I don't think I'd want to stay anywhere else now (too spoiled!) Everything about the Bellagio rocked. No drama to be had! The Wynn is pretty fancy too, but not as well located IMO.

It looks really nice on the website etc Will have to look it up on Trip Advisor, but i think i would rather stay there than the Luxor. Mandalay Bay is another choice too which looks fab.

I would go for a hotel thats on the actual strip as your nearer all the action so to speak lol, Mandalay Bay is away at the top of it nearer the airport. If you like walking lots then go for the Mandalay or theres a monorail that starts at MGM that saves you walking as much.

I stayed at the MGM when i got married there in 2002. I remember getting static electric shocks from the lift buttons. And I remember spending too much money in the win a Viper area. Don't remember much else. Lions in the casino, maybe, i'm not sure.
