Default Safe boost for a GT30

I have a gt30 currently fitted to my car, breif spec
2.4 brooklyn conversion
rs500 plenum 8 green injectors
unsure of any headwork presume its still standard
500 cooler
uprated fuel pump
gt30 with external waste gate

car is currently running 1.3 bar

would it be safe to run any more boost with out compromising the engines life

got used to the power now and it doesnt really feel any faster than my last power engineering 2.4 with a t34/63 with 385bhp

car would be going to msd to have boost adjusted so everything should get checked just thought i check here first see if it was possible

thanks graham

in a word yes (engine wise), providing the engine is good to begin with. 1.3bar is nothing IMO; but what transmission are you using? if its standard i wouldnt raise it above 350hp

when i got the car it had a standard box and had only recently been set up by karl norris via matin reyland

i have now fitted a bara box so transmision should take the power no poblem just was unsure of engine and didnt want to ruin a good engine

i'm not familiar with the 2.4 conversion but a standard engine with a standard head will make 420hp; with porting of the head you could easily see 500hp with your spec - but just be careful with the box

the guy who has already posted above (JTECH) can tell you all about transmission for 500hp

i think either gt30 will do it, but as stu, said to me, it depends how long you want your turbo to last,

it was 44psi peak, 37psi hold

i went 37psi peak hold 32

my old t34.48 was at 36psi aswell lol

Keep the oil changed regular and make sure you cool it down after a blast
I have my fans on a switch which i allways run after i turn the engine off then about 2min later restart and watch the temp come right down,
I havnt had any problem with my GT35 and i run it at 44 psi all the time

The 44psi peak is on an internally gated (V band housing, not the 3 stud flange) GT3071R.

Not been out in it properly yet but from what my Dad says, it's very lively, goes a lot better and despite being 4x4, needs treating with a bit of respect.

From the brief moment I was in it, it was very smooth and well behaved off boost but came on boost nice and progressively. I've not felt it at full boost for more than a couple of seconds at most.

Apparently something along the lines of full boost by 3.5k and still making 32psi at 8k rpm.

Out of interest are they stud and nut or stretch, the long studs?

(that sounds like Im being dumb as its long STUDS but in any case)

The studs will be stretch studs as the head is a dissimilar metal to the block, therefore 2 different heat expansion rates. And yes they are studs with nuts!

Mountune WRC long studs are used. There are others out there though. Some shit and some good. Don't know which are good or not though.

I'm not sure if ARP do a long stud kit or not. I only know of the short stud and nut kit.

anyway back on topic lol

without taking head off and doing any mods what would the boost be safe to run
it allready has a group a gasket from when the 2.4 was done I have been told that the 2.4 dont like high revs due to the stroke angle but lowdown they are so responsive and with the gt30 it is a very good set up just after a bit more poke overall

i am happy with the way the car is running so it doesnt need a set up
but if it was easy to get more power by turning the boost up and the engine allowed this i would get msd to do it
