Default re coding focus key fobs

right, i got a new key remote for my mrs focus as the old one became broken and the buttons didnt work, i swapped the key part with the old one, so in effect i now have a new remote on the old key.

i did the four ign turns on and off with the std key, and pressed a remote button...all went well, the remote works! but now the key wont start the car....

the spare blue chipped key starts it fine,

my question is, how do i make the key with the remote work? do i need to do the four turns reset with the chipped key? or will it wipe that aswell?

the passive anti theft (PATS) part of the new remote still needs reprogramming to the car and ford diagnostic equipment is required to do this.you can change the transponder chip over if your careful.basically take the remote back out of the key and look at it.there is a cylinder type thing in one side.carefully take this out and put into new remote.

hope that helps

can i not just split the remotes.... they open in two halfs, one holds the battery and the glass jobbie, the other holds the buttons and circuit....

if i put the two together it should work?

IN principle yes as long as you swap the guts ( actual key fob battery holder part)
