Can you legally re-shell a car and keep the same reg ???

I have the opportunity of buying a brand new UN stamped saph shell ...

if you've got a good shell then use it mate
they're getting hard to find these days

in your case yes,
as you are "re-shelling" a complete car.

it all depends on the ammount of parts you use from a single donor car you can prove, if age related used parts then you get age related reg, if mostly new parts are used (95% i think) then a new plate may be issued at DVLA discression.

if car is built from numerous spares/cars/sources then again, an age related plate is issued due to average age of all parts used.

best thing to do is ring your local SVA / VOSA type testing station that carries out VIC tests etc.

p.s thats the reason NEW shells are sold with no numbers!
brand new cars get crashed and re-shelled with technicaly new parts, i think 3yrs/waranty period counts, not so common nowdays but old skool pre2000 days this was common.

i dont think so, well i dont think we have stamped any in my time anyway, but i dont remember dealing with reshell yet....
