i had a customer in today who claimed to work for a company that looks after the lettings for buildings in which motor world trade in.

He told me that they were going into liquidation.

Dont know how true this is but i went passed a local branch of motor world and theyve got great big signs up promoting big discounts and clearences. 70% off etc etc.

has anybody else heard rumours?

my friend wrks for them whats happened is motorword went into admin 2 weeks ago and sold most of there store to a sister company and have only kept there 100 most profitable store to save on tax and exspenses so at the mo they at the point of bust or carry on

It is true, i was one of the many that got made redundent, im not sure what happended, all i heard was 90 shops so far in all got shut down, mite have to ask bout see what else i can find out

Went into administration on the 25th, 95 shops shut and 300 lads out of work, 2nd wave of lay off went yesterday with all the area managers going.
Got bought out by Pacific Retail Ltd (Who are funded by the same people that owned MW in the first place )
I kept my job, but I need to get out sharpish, dont trust them anymore

typical bullshit company. they went bust on the 24th.the day before their quarterly rent etc was due.
then they get "bought out" by pacific via some directors who were directors of the old place anyway and re-open 140 odd stores up again.
therefore all their debt is gone and gets left with the companies they bought from.which in turn puts them in trouble.

typical and ive seen it plenty. jamex now g-max,. janspeed, etc etc

Davey saff Im was from beccles 276, was a nice little shop but wasnt all that busy in the end, i heard bout 9 shops went in region 10. What shop did you work in?
Dont blame ya if you wanna get out quick i wouldnt trust them lol.

I'm still there mate, I had to empty out a few of the shops on our patch that closed though. Our region lost 5 branches (Region 6)

I used to work for Powerhouse, the electrical retailer. We went into administration and Pacific Retail bought us over. I left soon after as I could see what was coming. Company didn't last long after that. Pacific are from New Zealand I think.
