Ive not seen one of those before.

Trying to get my head around how the shaft from the turbo goes through the centre of the supercharger bit.

would be really interested to see inside one!

Doesn't the shaft just go straight across like one big shaft.

One of the VW engines is super/turbo charged but its only a 1.4 I think - used in the Golf & maybe the Polo

I think the term for is 'Compound Charging' or something - Saw a Mk1 Fiesta years ago that had a turbo & a supercharger, sounded the absolute boll*cks! Went alright aswell - light blue it was.

If it does, the is the supercharger bit on the same shaft?

If so, its hard to see what the turbine wheel brings to the party?

Now will the turbine wheel cause a restriction to the exhaust gases or help create a scavenging effect?

I can't see them bein on a common shaft, maybe jus built this way so is a compact unit ??

The supercharger has gotta be indepentant from the turbocharger surely ?? Jus machined into the same casing for a compact package ??

I would imagine so, with the turbo shaft running through the SC somehow, like on a bearing in the middle of the supercharger shaft which is hollow, or something along those lines.

you would have thought the super charger blows into the turboto spin the turbo up faster.
