After it is properly run in, the Silkolene ProS10w50 is the best to use .

Oh shit sorry I only read the thread title

I'd run it on cheap 20/50 or some mineral oil for 500miles change oil filter, same again then change oil and filter and run what I said in the first post!

I think Sticker Paul ran his in on Silkolene though?

What grade is best to use?

I'm going to use mobil 1, I don't think you can get better. When you open up an engine that's been run on mobil 1 for its entire life and nothing else it's in alot better condition and alot less sludgy than others.

Define 'alot better condition' than others and what were 'the others' ran on?? Any good quality oil when regularly changed will leave an engine in top condition. Besides, modern engines in good condition never get sludgy.

Less cam/bore wear, general condition of all parts, golden finish on areas. I have had similiar cars both with service history and one being ran on mobil 1 was alot better engines. Just my opinion and not looking for an arguement.

It is the best chemically tested in mine after several Topspeed runs.

Thats what I thought about Castrol RS, untill I was asked to do tests on it. big shock. Wont go into details but oil was below optimum Spec after a single 200mph run. No one is saying that other oils will destroy your engine but it will be wearing it out quicker than some others, Tests are a real eye opener, MAD & Mike Rainbird recommend Silkolene as their prefered choice for the YB engine following the tests that I did.

No offense Rod, but not everyone has a 1000bhp Cossie

I'd love to see the same tests done on say a 400bhp Cossie
