Default People renting a place on their own.

Need some help/advice.

Could you tell me roughly what your monthly bills are minus actual rent for a one bedroom place?

I.e Water, gas electric etc etc on an average basis?

Basically need to know all expenses i will be paying.

Thanks
Kris

i put £800 by a month for all bills so minus my rent of £435 a month my total bills for everything ie virgin tv, all food, gas, elec etc is £365 a month and normally there is a few quid left over out of that which builds up for a rainy day

considering i pay all the bills for the house i own and they come to just under £400 a month for everything as everything is direct debit:
gas £36
electric £31
water £30
tv license £10
sky £86
phone £11
insurance £55
council tax £115
etc

i think you are paying over the top if you are in a single room mate

3 bed house is different

Nice little place that Kris....If your going from living at home to renting TRUST me it will be a shock as you will have to buy your own food, do your washing, cleaning the lot. On my place the bills are about £340 pm for council tax, gas, electric and BT.

that looks quite good for the money maybe a little more expensive than other places but it looks like it been done out recently

my place is a bargin, i have a garage below the flat, a large store room with 5 bikes and lots of tools/spares, large reception area for working on bikes, then the flat has a large balcony open planned front room/kitchen and good sized bathroom and bedroom, plus a private stairwell with storage and its in a good central location and i have a parking space outside of my garage which is great as its a nightmare to park here during the day

if i include food into the equation, plus the mortgage, it's around £2300 a month all in, give or take (buy nappies when they are on offer, you may spend £60 one week but it'll last for 6 )

that's a great bit of advice there mate

as soon as i started earning my old man said "you are going to have to start picking up some of the bills around here lad" and eventually i started to pay them all

what i didn't know was that the old man was putting just as much money aside as i was spending, so when it came to buying a house etc, he said "here you go son, your money" and i was like ""

That would be about £650+ per month up here Anything below £500 is either next to a brothel or on a street full of pikey bastids

Oh i know all about being skint was 20 when i moved out and for the first year i was brassic Luckily i got myself a decent job in the city before i moved out.

But getting used to paying £500 per month rather than the £100 i would be paying with the folks has prepared me for the step up to £1000 a month on me own.

Il be honest mate the Golden Oldies bar is fab, rather strange if honest but i suppose it pulls in the money for a guest house/OAP knocking shop

The Polish ones next door have been good as gold, considering its 4 blokes moved in not heard them once. That pissed on my dreams hey i wanted 4 polish chicks as neighbours not blokes

for me, single bloke in a 3 bed house:

Gas £30
Electric £40
Water £30
Council tax £85
tv £10
internet/phone £30
Insurance £25
food £100 (no booze!!)

total £350 a month. You can save loads on food and non essentials like internet and probably a small flat wont cost that much to fuel either.

exactly and hardly essential for a bloke starting out first time freeview box £9.99 at Asda is good enough as its got Dave.

Oh i forgot to put on mine that the food costs are based on approx £10 a week on fillet steak for saturday night as my weekly treat!!

This months food actually cost me just under £60 as i go to tesco half an hour before they shut most nights so got all my meats and veg for less than 10p each item and even froze loafs of bread at 10p too.

Oh and remember freecycle for free furniture as you can pick most things up and it isnt all crap. My dining room table was a 2 year old ikea set that just needed the seat covers washing properly and some of the nuts tightened up. Charity shops often have furniture sections too for stuff like wardrobes, sofas etc and £200 will get you a satisfactory bed from a catalogue shop. TV's 2 a penny on freecycle as so many people get huge plasma/tft thingys. Got a 32" 18 month old panasonic CRT for £30!! not bad really.

and it aint that bad a shit hole really. no worse than most citys. sure there aint tons to do for younguns who like booze and clubbing and employment aint good, but in 10 years or so when the regeneration program is well progressed it should be good. Despite the credit crunch some companys are moving into the area due to its central location and once the city is revamped the house prices will attract more commuters for manc, brum, etc.

Of course the council could just go bust and the pikeys could take over

Lets be honest where else in the country can you get a good size modernised 3 bed end terrace house for £85k???

Thats about the wittiest thing I've ever heard you say!

Anyway, I live on my own, 2 bed house and currently getting fucked for bills

Excluding mortgage/rent;

council tax £95
water £25
gas + elec £71
TV licence £11
Insurance £25 (for the home + contents) (I think it's £25, can't remember )
Internet £18
no home phone, only mobile @ about £30

So thats about £275 before food, etc. Add in mortgage/rent of £600, thats £825. Food is another £25-£30 a week, plus smokes (not good - £44 a week ) and going out to pub/see mates/do stuff/have a life (kind of ) and clothing, etc - I don't get much, if any, change from £1300 a month! Which is a pisser as at the mo I only get about that

if he's minted, he's not mad, he's eccentric

talk to him nicely, ask him about his day etc, he might let you live in the house for free if you promise to do the gardening or something
