so how come he jumped, or dived the 172ft and was perfectly ok, when the the golden gate bridge is 220ft over the water, and if you seen that documentry the other week, that is where the most people have taken their lives in any one place in the world 
does that extra 48ft make that much of a difference?

It's so dangerous to land head first from that height, that all 'diving' is outlawed in competitive diving. They have those barmy cliff diving contests, and you have to go in feet first - They still commonly get injured, and surface with blood pouring from their noses. It's properly mad stuff!
