The trick is to go more satin than matt.

Totally matt will show all greasy fingerprints and be a pig to keep clean.

You can clean matt black no problem, as long as you lacuer it. I painted a bike for someone matt black, the lacuer had 50% matting agent added, looked pretty cool, not sure about a whole car though.

Unless its a nail, or the car is going to get abused that much , that the body work will take a beating, I wouldn't bother.

Spend the cash and get a decent paint job.

thats mine
i liked matt black as its the only colour i liked for the car
it is hard to clean tho however scratches are easy to repair and i think it has a more agressive stance
each to theyre own tho

satin black, people think what they see is matt, but its not, matt is too grey,

and funny how people think its common or cliche, when ive not seen a matt black car on the road, or at a show, or even on a forum, for years really.

only time you really see satin black cars these days is the supercars etc people keep doing it to.

the craze of doing it to normal cars was years ago, not now, so crack on if you want.

Much the same opinion really apart from Dan Joyce's matt black 306 i saw the other day. That was just a quick aerosol job and from a distance it looks quite smart. Especially with a few stickers on it.

Pro: Its easy to do and wont show up brush/rolelr marks as much.

Con: It looks shit on a 'modern' vehicle. This is not my opinion, this is fact. If you don't agree - you're just plain wrong.

yes you can pay a grand. But it is cheaper than a respray, protect your paintwork underneath, can be removed in a jiffy and wont make you cry when you scratch it

the pro of cheap is daft really.

its only cheap if you do it yourself.

but any paintjob is cheap if you do it yourself.

and most paintjobs jook shit when done yourself too.

see the real connection between paint and crap here people?

Me too, the one i saw was fantastic, enough to make me want to have one done. The one you saw must have been a poor and old one.

Spending all that money to have a car look like it's unfinished, the upkeep of the matt finish, resale as it won't appeal to alot of people who think it's been done with a can of plastikote from B&Q............

This was a vinyl wrap, we didn't have it done, it was done when we bought it, didn't scratch easily, never bubbled, would reccomend it again.
