just got give an ipod (30gb)
can i put on music from my files on my laptop?
or do need i tunes?
just got the ipod and data cable ,do i need a driver?

You don't need to use iTunes.
I have a 30Gb video ipod and I hate iTunes. I use Winamp to play my music and that can also be used to add/remove tunes to your iPod, copy tunes from your iPod to your hard disk or synchronise all your music. Load winamp and plugin your iPod and winamp should recognise it automatically.

just use itunes.
little hint tho, dont let is SYNCRONISE, set it to manually manage music.
if you dont you can only link it to ONE pc and its a pain in the arse
