Okay - I always fry steaks. Never grill, as they dry out too quickly.

As far as a joint is concerned, buy the best quality you can afford. For the most perfect rare joint, I cook around 15-18 mins/lb + 15 mins @ 190. Secret to keeping it moist is to drizzle it with olive oil before cooking and keep it basted in its own juices.

Without realising she started complaining about the service and some of his food when we got homeafter going to Boxwood last week

Was VERY funny! she was being a restaurant snob without realising it! Here was what we had to eat... I'll let Maria tell you what she thought

Creamed sweetcorn, basil and lobster soup

Ceviche of organic salmon and crab with chilli, lime, coriander and grapefruit

Roasted ramero pepper with avocado, feta cheese, slow roasted tomatoes and pumpkin seed oil

Roasted loin of yellow fin tuna, parsnip purée, shallot and black pepper sauce

Braised featherblade of Dedham Vale beef with pumpkin purée and ceps

British cheeses

Valrhona hot chocolate fondue, marshmallows, biscotti and fruit kebabs

I've always liked Ramsay, seems a very genuine, down-to-earth bloke who doesn't mince his words. Respect. And he really can cook.

Good footballer too

G1en,
Have you ever read Gordon Ramsay's autobiography.

Maybe you should, and realise afterwards that when you've had a s many kicks in the teeth/bollocks growing up as he had with a violent abusive father and junkie brother, you'll have a bit more respect for a decent honest hard working TOP chef.

And vain, and arrogant, I fuckin would be too if I was a multi millionaire just for putting food down peoples necks.

Maria, Porkie I'm sooooooo jealous you've even eaten in his restaurants.

Nice one Maria. You seem a very confident person so it should be a breeze.

There's no way in the world I'd be able to do anything on live tv in front of millions of people, apart from maybe dribble and fart a lot.

Agreed. The second one (Playing with fire IIRC) is good too... goes over old ground for a while, but then improves no end. A great read.

The way he comes across on TV is bad, and i dare say he wouldnt get away with speaking to me the way he did his staff on his early shows, he came a cross as a bully and it saddened me, but the fact is, well, to save my fingers, Porkie said it all...

Good luck Maria, I like Gordon Ramsay. However, he was on Television this week for his meats he does in Bookers. 60% Chicken, and the rest is crap to fill it out. I was surprised he would put his name to such junk.

This is a prime oppurtunity to advertise your Girl Racer website.

Im sure it is, but i would still have more respect for my staff than to treat them that way. Nobody is perfect though, least of all me, and i would probbaly trade my good manners for his business accumen and success.. Bollox to you all. LOL

I think it's the same in any high pressure, fast paced environment though.

He certainly hasn't got where he is by being soft and worrying about people's feelings........

80% of chef's are tossers IMO.
Away from the kitchen Ramsey seems a decent bloke, in a kitchen he comes across as a tosser.

Gordon Ramsey comes across not as a cock to me on TV but somebody who wants nothing more than his business to succeed.

I wouldn't think twice about kicking somebody up the fucking arse if they were becoming detrimental to my business.

Tough love and all that, same with any Kitchen/Catering enviroment. There is no room for error for him as every potential diner could be another Michelin Inspector.

Think of the news headlines if Ramsey lost a Michelin Star

I admire him for having achieved so much! I just wish I could be even half as successful as him to be honest, hell I'd settle for 1/20th!!
