whats the average price for tyres fitted and balanced to your wheels

Default whats the average price for tyres fitted and balanced to your wheels

ive been quoted £30 for two Goodyear EAGLE F1 GS-D3 215/40 R17 83Y BSW to be fitted ..how much do them lead weights cost

with the MYtyres price Total VAT included: £ 171.60 thats £200 sheets

is he having me off

as i never got the tyres from his garage

seems a bit steep to me... six months ago it was about £7

aj the garage has the hunter laser tracking machine in there..which is what i want doing on the car before the mot..but the price

i said will ring you next week

Lot of places putting their prices up lately due to the fact so many people are ordering off the internet and they are missing out on the sales.

If you hunt about though and find a secondhand tyre place, they are normally ran out of basic industrial units and have less overheads etc and are happy to do it for a fiver a rim cash.

via mikes reports these specs are the best for 4x4 cosworths

Don't set it up to Ford figures anyway, as it will wander all over the place.

Front:
Camber: 1.5° negative
Toe-in: 2mm overall
Caster: As close to 3°30 as you can get.

so as with new spanky tyres..there hunter system can set the car to the SPECS above ..

tbh pondering what to do..leave them to set it up...

or give them the specs above to apply to the car

chip would you set it via

Front:

Toe-in: 2mm overall
Caster: As close to 3°30 as you can get.

or leave the machine to set it up honest answer..as i know i will get one off you

Yes mate, those figures are a good set to work too IMHO, I would go for those as a good proven starting point.

Dont forget the rear end also effects the way it handles though of course.

Not adjustable, but you want:
Camber: As front
Toe-in: 3mm overall.

just looking at the car specs

the Rear Hubs are shimmed to correct inherent toe problems under power. so this might fuck it all up as well
oh for a quiet life....

...........i'm right in thinking unless u've got a fully adjustable front end, then these figures mean nowt..u can only do the toe-in...???

It depends on how the car is used (and where - e.g. mainly motorways / country roads / track).

A reasonable compromise would be:

Front:
Camber: 1.5° neg
Toe: 2mm toe-in (overall)
Caster: 3°30'

Rear: 1.5° neg
Toe: 2-3mm toe-in (overall)

Bearing in mind the rear is not adjustable, so has to be done with shims or slotting the holes and the welding washers to secure it in the correct position.

my hubs are shimmed so thats a start

...........yeh i've got the shims......but on a std saff u can only adjust the front...... (toe-in)....so it means sod all to most people.......
