Sorry, he just PM'd me and advised that he would, but only if Mark was driving. There was something mentioned about slippery sticks and dog's arses when it came to you and driving .

Nik - Can I ask although the car was ran in the went and you got that speed. What revs were you pulling at topspeed and is there any more in the car if say it were dry?

7200 rpm I believe, looking at the graph thats already on falling Power so on this gearing which I think is just about perfect, theirs not much left I guess. 180 with 503bhp is going some & I recon pretty much optimum.

Would get to 180 in a shorter distance in the dry, but without more Power wont go much faster, thats my opinion, whats yours Nick.

Bloody hell!
Well done!

For me the performance is almost irrelevant with these cars, it'll always be cooler than anything else (cossies included) just because its a Capri.

I bet its a handful.

I bet thats terrifying. Fastest Capri i have done only had 430bhp on a TT-T38 and the damn thing wouldnt get traction until 5th Gear. I salute your balls doing 180mph in it, in the WET!!

Don't shoot the messenger. You should here what Jim says about your "skills" behind the wheel. Allegedly that Jehova bird could do a better job.

Thanks for all the useful on topic postings in this thread about an MAD engined capri Mike

And to think, lots of people say that you deliberately shit stir in every MAD post just to give you an excuse to move it to the dummy room or anywhere else you can move it to where people cant see the results, im sure thats all not true though based on how useful you are being here

He's got you well and truely in the keep net there Rich, thread will be in the spat your dummy room in no time at this rate, and if not, certainly no one is talking about the capri anymore.

Why not just rise above him (you can do so and still be in the gutter after all so its not hard) and just stop replying to him mate?

Agreed, much as the engines output is a credit to Mark's tuning skills, the car itself is just a nutty concept wonderfully implemented by Nick, irrelevant of who did the mapping etc

That was clearly a lack of eyesight and poor forward planning. I've been to spec-savers since. However, I think I have a pot and a kettle to go and paint black .

Stunning! Love the subtle looks as well, so many get it so wrong with Capris and just fire on a shitload of plastic tat on them..... especially big power ones!

Suprised and impressed that it managed 180 with 500BHP coupled with the prehistoric aerodynamics! I would have expected more to be needed.... old Escorts can't do those numbers after all.

I'm pretty certain there's a black MK2 RS2000 thats reached 179ish at Bruntingthorpe and the Hippy in his Mk1 Escort did a 170mph in the wet last year there at a CF mag shoot.

Rich
Unfortunately not around the next couple of weekends but deffo hook up soon

Mike
Engine made 500.2bhp and 500.7ib/ft on the Norris dyno

Rod
Basically I agree that there is not much left in the car,but I reckon without a split diaphragm in the dump valve, with no headwind and a dry track that maybe, just maybe the car might make 185

Chip and Rod
Congratulations for predicting the top speed reached within 0.1mph!

Next time I'll save all the stress, cost and time off work and just phone you guys for my top speed!!

As you can see as the run was done in 3rd the engine did not quite see the same boost lower down as the engine dyno, So you dont quite have the same Tq as the engine dyno but when you look at it its only 15ftlb down from the max it showed on the dyno,
This shows you a proper engine can make within a few % of what is recorded on a engine dyno and 2 diff companies owning them,
This is not a advert only a reply to your question by someone that is the best qualifed person to do soso no deleting this.

That's a strange thing to say, why does it require a 'proper' engine to record consistant figures between the two dynos?

Thanks for the reply .

Always loved the car and can't believe you still have it .

Interesting that the torque is more out than the power, where power is just a calculation of torque when comparing the two, I suppose it's just where the rollers can't load the car in the same way the dyno can? .

Would be good if someone could overlay the two to see a direct comparison between the rolling road and dyno.

I have yet to take my car to a rolling road (tried once, but the turbo ingested part of the air-filter and each run the power got less and less ), but am interested to do likewise - especially with 4wd .

Car is a credit to you .
