Default One for the R888 suppliers.

Has anyone questioned Toyo as to whether they would produce a R888 in either if the following sizes:

215/40 17
225/35 17

These would suit the Sierra Cossie best on a 8x17 (which most people on track have to clear large brakes).

The current 205/40 are stretched and the 235/40 too big in both dimensions and cause issues with arch rubbing.

cheers

Genuine question cos i want some as soon as my road tyres are worn out.

The 205 R888's are closer to 215mm anyways. They're actually really big tyres....

I know and 215's would be nearer to 225's so would fit nicely.
And give more grip which can be utilised when having 8" rims rather than 7's.

A big void in the current range 205 to 235 IMO not catering well for 8's.

I'd never get them on the front if they are similar to a 245 road tyre as my current 225 road tyres are about 2mm from the front coilover

CossieRich runs his saph with the 8x17 Comp wheel, with 205/40 fronts and 235/40 rears, both as R888's Dave.

Be warned. 235/40/17 requires rear arch mods. the tyre measures nearly 9 inch wide great for grip, not for my poor arches.

205 measure approx 212 wide so almost 215 anyway

Very serious rolling for the rears by the looks of it. And i'll say it again the fronts look too small width wise!!!

I'm sure if a BETTER size was available (eg 215/40) lots of people would have them all round and very minor mods if any would be required to arches. Hence more and more people would buy them.

I'd have 4 straight away

I do agree.... but I would STILL go for the 235's on the rear. Arch rolling isn't expensive or too hard to get done and they look AWESOME on richs and grip amazingly according to him

Dave,

i see what you are saying, but can you honestly tell me you can spot 3mm difference as with the 205/40 measuring 212 wide thats all there is.

I dont know why Toyo cant get their widths correct really. YOu can almost gaurantee if they bought out a 215/40 it will measure somewhere in the 220's wide and then you will have to completely do the arch at the front

And Dave, if you did need any arch rolling, Martoon isnt really that far from you mate

OK guys i get the message...don't be so fussy.

More selection would be nice though, and the only way to get it is by suppliers asking the maufacturer for them, hence why i started the post.

I have the October 2008 pricelist here and there are no additional 17" sizes on there, either current or TBA.

no one is being fussy mate, just saying that the 205/40/17 is only 3mm(ish) short of the 215 you are after

I'd personally go 215/40 all round.

BTW, I've emailed Toyo Technical, see what they say.
