Default Computer bods

My computer is running like a bag of shit, so i want to reboot the whole thing so its just like new. Ive saved what i need. I cant remember how to do it. On my old computer Windows ME i had a disc to do it, but i have xp on this one and i dont remember having a disc. Ive tried system restore but it doesnt go back far enough. Is there a simple way of doing it??

You need an XP disc.
Boot from the XP CD.
It'll show your hard drive, tell it to delete whats already there and install itself anew.

If you dont have an XP CD you're buggered.
It may not be labelled as 'XP' it might be on a branded CD from the manufacturer, called 'System Software' or some other bollocks.

could always give your system a good cleanup.

download and install spbot s&d from safer networking. update it, run it, remove any dodgy crap on your pc

do a disk cleanup

do a disk defrag

run msconfig and check whats in the startup, you can untick things you dont want starting with your pc (be VERY careful with this)

That should help a lot, possibly run a virus scan as well. any questions drop me a pm or msn and ill be glad to help you mate.

you can get xp for £49 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/search...windows+xp+oem

EDIT you can do the above yeah but if a pc is really screwed its sometimes easier to start a fresh, and make sure you have a decent AV etc install first and then keep it running well.
