What car would you have?
Budget £6500, focus size, must have air con, a few toys, no more than 6 years old, be fun to drive with a reasonable bit of pace etc....
What do you reckon? Bored shitless of my ST170 after only 3 months and looking for a change! Answers on a postcard please

theres a 150bhp and 180bhp version of the golf. AFAIK the Anniversary is the only 180bhp version of it.
the 150bhp version maps to circa 190bhp

Thanks all for the input!!! I did consider a vrs, i do like them, a bloke at work had one and I was very impressed for what it was. What are they like reliability wise? Not overly keen on imprezas, just seem a bit fragile, I want something that I can give death to every weekend, and it will still get me to work monday morning.
As for the astra, no offence, but I have had one astra in the past, and that was enough to put me off vauxhalls for life
Cheers all!

I've always fancied one and now you're dashing my hopes by telling me theyre not very good?
Can't you just tune the focus for more power? The handling must already be pretty good.

Sticking my neck out a bit here, but, get an MG ZS 180. Great cars, go well, handle well, very cheap as well. OK, build quality is not in the German league but great cars.

Thanks againg for the input!!
Dunketh - I'm not saying the st170 is a bad car, it handles very, very well, but it just lacks straight line speed and that 'something special'.
With the price bracket they are in, and the fact they do 280 miles from a tank of fuel, makes me think that the st170 just should be better. Also the fact that its about as reliable as a british rail timetable makes me dislike it just that little bit more

Civic Type-r, have one as a daily driver, on my second one in 1.5 years. really cannot fault them, hammer the shit out of them and as long as they are serviced and topped up it never misses a beat. Not too shaby on petrol. Starts every morning without fail and it just loves the abuse.

Deffinatly agree ththat a type-r would be the way to go if you are going to change but i would personally spend a bit of money on the st170 engine if your not happy with the performace.
