ah yes in that case you got a uprated breather kit by the sounds of it!might be stem seals, valve guides etc but in my opinion i would get the correct type of oil in her as the oil you have in her aint up to the task fella!

people will have different opinions on the engine oil flush!but in my opinion it is a BIG no no!pure and simply because you could move some crap to somewhere you dont want it i.e oil supply gallery etc!10-40 semi is no where near good enough oil for a cossie as it wil break down at the high engine temps when giving it plenty of right foot action!

poss requires a set up?a cossie will always smoke when being driven hard specially when you back off so would not worry about that side of things!

cheers mechanic28 , thats my fear on the oil flush and with 95k on clock i think it could move some friendly deposits ,
mines has always had a little play in the shaft of turbo but has only started smoking more since it has'nt been used everyday .
my turbo has recently been making a squelling noise when first started too , so roll on end of oct so i can get it sent away before it packs in , anyone elso had the squeeling problem when cold ??

cheers gaz .

its when i blip the throttle a little just to get it to idle , dodgy idle valve needs a bit of persuading to work when cold , thinking about it could be a dry throttle body thingy making the noise (really technical me )maybe , was told by msd that my tps was giving an odd dodgy signal aswell when they set it up , maybe these are all related .
just presumed it was turbo cos it sounds like it does when i press the stage 1 button and the turbo is spooling up . think i'l have a busy winter in garage trying to find out so any pointers would be nice .

cheers gaz .

hard to say with hearing to be honest fella!maybe take your idle valve out and give her a good clean with some brake cleaner then give her a spray of wd40 to help keep it nice and free

also as your moaning off black smoke your noise could well be a air leak somewhere!might well be worth having a look around!

doesnt have to oil in intercooler to be turbo could be dumping it straight in the exhaust. if turbo isnt very old and no play in the shaft its unlikely to be turbo seal imo.

I'd say changing the oil isn't going to stop 'plumes of smoke' bellowing out the back!

My old 2wd used to do this, had the turbo refurbed and it made no difference.. can only assume it was piston ring or bore wear.

update on this discussion , changed my oil and filter last weekend to silkolene pro-s from semi synth , defo reduced the blue smoke from my exhaust on overun , only done about 150 miles so far but much better
Still not found the cause of the noise tho , sounds like a dry bearing but goes after a few seconds , have had all the belts done and tensioner , something may be over tight and causing this onstart up , getting it checked once i can get it to garage which did it .

cheers
gaz .

does the smoky car in question have the centre box removed? This can cause smoke on overrun as the backpressure is reduced and the turbo seals dont work as efficiently.
