I applied for a years working holiday visa.. they send you forms that you put your convictions on, fines, court dates etc... send it back, then wait for decision. Mine took 2 weeks.

Depending on type of convictions I think they are quite leniant.. Armed robbery, drug offences are looked at too kindly though

considering they have a country FULL of em,, and they REFUSE to pay the congestion charge also,, saying that they dont recongnise it

what about the "inocent" people with no further action,,, the sort of inocent ones who cases where dropped by the CPS due to lack of evidence,,, meaning they was in a way sort of inocent in the eyes of the law

for "a mate" like

It doesn't matter how long u go for. It's the fact you want to go with your convictions which is the issue...

Best bet would be to ring up Mon morn. Explain the situation and let them tell you what u need to do....

From January everyone who wants to travel to the USA will have to pre register on the USA homeland security site. (will get the link from work on Monday). They will then tell you within 72hours(so it says) whether you are allowed to travel. If they OK you it will last for 2 years, but it still doesn't guarantee entry to the US? If you get declined i'm afraid it is a case of taking the trip to the embassy and having the interview.

On the Visa form, it asks travel dates, accommodation, basically a lot of details about what you are up to.

So pretty sure its a short term Visa based on your travel arrangements. In the end, I got fed up looking at the damn thing and said fuck it, too much hassle !!!!

Although I do know others who have travelled to the US with criminal convictions in their past, with no issues, and they said nothing. Although they would be some years ago.

Its a catch 22 situation...if you try to do the right thing, good chance you could get screwed. If you say nothing, good chance you'll be fine.

Last I enquired was around September 06, as I had wanted to go to SEMA in November that year.

I think if I do decide to go, I'll just say nothing. Mine's only a disorderly, which if I had known the hassle it could've created later on, no way would I have opted for guilty. It was just less hassle and expense at the time to do so.
