Default Scratched discs?

Any good ways of getting them to read in a laptop? ive got 2 discs with loads of important pictures of us and the kids etc and the past few years which wont seem to read, theyre scratched but not absolutely wrecked, whats the best way to get them to read and will anything make the scratches disappear?

thanks

Sarah

Toothpaste work wonders..work it into the disc for 5 mins and it takes the scratches out... I have loads of ruined dvds due to the nipper and toothpaste brings them back to life

fairly liquid all over it, let it sit like that for a minute then rinse off and dab dry

that saved alot of my ps2 games a few years back

it was replaced by the insurance company because old laptop broke, so i suspect i will just have to get in touch with them about it? AS i dont know where they actually got it from it was just delivered to us.

Argh is there any way of checking to see why it wont work?

Try a bit of toothpaste on the lens, then a quick rub with some brasso & finally a blob of T-Cut. That should sort it

what happens when you put a disc in? can you hear it spinning up that suggests its being powered?
Does anything come on the screen? or the hour glass

got a mate to look and its saying there's no disc drive installed when he goes into the advanced bit,

It does power when you put the disc, and it makes random weird noises, nothing comes up on the screen and cant find it in my computer either
