Default apple mac laptop quick question

i have an old laptop of my brother in law,its a mac,problem is i dont know how to do anything on it.

question is can i wirelessly connect to my home pc? how??(icons are all different).

there is an orange(mobile co)icon on the screen,do i need to use this for the tinternet ?

whats the story with mobile broadband? can i buy a pay as you go dongle thingy?


sorry for all the questions,i have never realy used a laptop much and never a mac!!

Can't answer many of your questions except to say that if the laptop has a wireless card you can connect it to your home network - our oldest has his Mac hooked up that way and the rest of us are on PCs.

If it isn't wirelss it should have a network cable port that you can plug in to the router.

If it's an older one I doubt it has a 'wireless card'

Go to the apple icon (top left) then to 'About this mac', 'more info' then click on Airport card - See if it has one.

You can get a USB one, or get an Airport card off flea bay pretty cheaply,

it has one cheers for that mate,it has a bluetooth icon in the top right hand corner,it connected to my pc automaticaly,will it doo that wharever i go or do i need to search for a connection?

search for a connection as many wireless's have password protected.

I fucking hate the fookers, I have worked in the newspaper busness for 12 year's

they are better now, using intel chips and a good operating system. but they were utta shit before.

I still would not buy a Mac, get a pc and install ubuntu

yes old mac's are great, if you like full on crashes every 10 min, setting mem space for each app hmmm very good not

new ones yes they have come down in price, but still expensive as they are just pc's now, so why pay more a white case?

you can run osx on a pc now, just don't tell apple you can lol
