Standard is fine UNLESS you want to go launching. Then you need a Quaife or Gripper. Choice is down to personal preference, but you're looking at just over £1k for either.

Even then, both diffs use the standard CWP, so are not totally bullet-proof. For this, you need a Jag diff or a 9" Ford Motorsport item.

surely the std diff will cope, just make sure you use a decent diff oil.

i would leave it like that and see how it goes,or look at a quaiffe.

my first point of call would be ask rod tarry, has got one of the most powerful coworths in uk and is rwd like your self, he uses a jag item, cheap and cheerful

but so far bullet proof, learn from others peoples mistakes

Got mine from a Diamler Limo cost £40 (crate of Tesco wine .). It was 3.54 with DiffLoc.
Sent away for overhaul (£400) & its still untouched 8 years or so on.
Zoo fitted it to there rear beam with custom shafts & prop.
As a guestimate Beam + Prop was circa £1700 & very special shafts to take 800ft-lb were £600 so I guess £2800 including overhaul of Diff.
I appear to have more grip than any other RWD i know so i guess it works, had a quaife atb before, Jag Diff is in a different league.

I have the Quaife in my saff, seems to be working very well and it,ll soon have Marks 500 conversion to deal with so i,ll let you know..

I,m pretty sure Euan uses the standard diff still and he,s well over 550bhp..

As Rod says though, Jag diff is VERY good, but i,m sure you,ll be ok with standard if not launch..

Ford 8.8" IRS Conversion as per Mustang Cobra's etc

The US guys do that with their Merkurs.

Cheap CWP's, cheap diff options, just the initial purchase may be highish. Probably not compared to the other conversions though.

One link...altho piccies dont seem to be working.

Or about 1/4 way down this page...

http://www.merkurtech.com/merkurtech...pages/main.php Nate Walsh 8.8 diff install.

And near the bottom of the same page...perhaps the guy that offers conversions. David Godfrey
