Default MR2 Questions (it's started... )

Guess this is aimed at rab and PON really... lol

ok few problems....

1) the speedo only goes up to 110
2) There is a speed limiter
3) the rev counter needle fell off

so, can you replace the instrument cluster with something that reads sensible speeds? does chipping the ECU remove the speedlimiter or is it done via another means? and can i stick the needle back on if so is it a ballache to get at the cluster?

car's starting to grow on me now by the way

JIm, de-limiters are really cheap and easy to fit. But get a decent one or it will move your power steering cut off from 50 to 80 mph.

Either that or find yourself a set of Rev2 UK clocks. Cheap as chips from the breakers.

But you'll need to swap the boost gauge in yours to the new ones as the UK ones have a volt meter

PS
You mirror will be in the post tomorrow

and http://www.tbdevelopments.com/forum/ for all your MR2 questions. Stay away from the MR2oc as they're all MONGS...

now i can see in the light it looks lik the needle has just fallen off, so no biggie just needs popping back on.

Rab, do you know what parts i need, just a UK spec boggo standard N/A Mr2 set of clocks? anything else, speedo drive on gearbox etc.?

also have you ever taken the dash outl is it a nightmare?

As I've said, give that car an oil change, check it over, and it'll run fine for another 3 years!

Look after it, and most importantly, DON'T START MODIFYING IT, and it will be a good useable fun car.

Best of luck with that!

MR2 turbos are quite amazing wee cars when modded properly.

I know a guy with one that has 380 ATW(mapped on apexi by AVA) and it is easily as quick as the 500 bhp escorts round KH in the dry.

Jim, You could even buy some 180mph Jap clocks, that would be a straight swap. And I've taken the dash out, it's really pretty simple. Waaaay easier than any ford I've done.

Infact, PM me your MSN addy and I'll pass on all my info.
